First shown just months ago, this is the latest version of the popular BMW X1 and for Malaysia it starts with the electrified version.
The iX1 xDrive30 M Sport is now larger than its predecessor – by 53mm in length to 4,500mm, 24mm in width to 1,845mm and 44mm in height to 1,642mm.
Its wheelbase is 2,692mm, 22mm longer than before, while its track widths have increased by 31mm to 1,592mm at the front and 1,593mm at the rear.
Its not a big difference in size and looks and you might be asking why was the previous version, which was launched here in July 2020 cost just RM208,000 (local assembled) and this latest version which is electrified and imported cost RM285,900 which is almost RM77,000 more?
Well, let us share more details of this latest version with you to justify BMW Malaysia’s price increase.
At the centre of the new front end design stands the large, almost square BMW kidney grille, its contouring highlighted by the three-dimensional chrome surround. The grille bars are finished in Black high-gloss as standard. In the outer areas of the lower air intake, large chrome strips accentuate the classy design of the front end.
This First-Ever BMW iX1 will feature a maximum output of 313 hp and an outstanding range of up to 440 kilometres (WLTP) to enable every electric adventure – no matter the distance or destination.
High-power charging at rates of up to 130 kW reduces downtime by bringing the vehicle from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in just 29 minutes.
With sustainability in mind, the cobalt and lithium materials used in the battery of the First-Ever BMW iX1 come from responsible mining, and the powertrain does not require any rare earths.
The First-Ever BMW iX1 impresses with its excellent driving performance, superb handling, long range and fast charging times which is making the compact all-electric SAV a remarkable all-rounder for everyday mobility.
Arriving in the M Sport variant, the First-Ever BMW iX1 emphasises the dynamic appeal of the new electric SAV with features such as the kidney grille surround in Chrome, kidney grille front slats in satinated Aluminium and a distinctive design seen on the body-coloured side sill and wheel arch trims, as well as front and rear aprons.
Other variant-exclusive highlights include the M high-gloss Shadowline, M designation on both sides and 19-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 871M Bicolour.
Exterior colour offerings for the First-Ever BMW iX1 include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Cape York Green, M Portimao Blue, Storm Bay and Space Silver. Interior upholstery is available in either Alcantara Black with Blue Contrast Stitching, Leather Vernasca Black or Leather Vernasca Mocha.
