Hongqi G919 Launches With 620kW and Four Motors

FAW Hongqi has launched the G919, a large off-road SUV featuring four electric motors, a range-extender powertrain and three locking differentials. The model is available in China with prices starting at RMB 349,800 (approximately RM205,000).

The G919 is offered in three variants: Tuojing, Yujing and a Limited Edition. The Tuojing starts at RMB 349,800 (RM205,000), while the Yujing costs RMB 389,800 (RM228,000). The Limited Edition tops the range at RMB 429,800 (RM252,000).

Power comes from a range-extender system paired with four electric motors. The setup produces a combined output of 620kW and 1,320Nm of torque. Hongqi claims the SUV can travel up to 1,350km, although the available information does not specify the testing cycle used for this figure.

The G919 also features three locking differentials designed to improve traction over challenging terrain. Combined with its four-motor layout, the system gives the SUV multiple ways to manage power delivery across its wheels.

The range-extender configuration allows the vehicle to use electric motors for propulsion while relying on an onboard combustion engine to extend its driving range. This setup aims to combine electric drive with the ability to travel longer distances without depending entirely on charging infrastructure.

The G919 enters the market as a technology-focused off-road SUV, with its four-motor powertrain and locking differentials forming key parts of its package. Its claimed 1,350km range also places long-distance driving among its main selling points.

For now, the announced prices apply to the Chinese market. No Malaysian launch date or local pricing has been confirmed in the available information.
