The Peugeot Django 150, how does it fair in this day and age ?

This may come as a surprise to you, Peugeot does indeed have scooters. In fact Peugeot was around long before even Vespa and Lambretta, dating all the way back to 1898  making it one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world.  

The Django is a tribute to the 1953 Peugeot S55 which you can see by the borrowed stylistic choices such as the bodywork, chrome detailing and retro color schemes. A classic presentation but do not be fooled, it is updated with a lovely TFT, electronic fuel injection, LED lighting and ABS braking. 

The Django sports a 150 CC single cylinder four stroke engine with an automatic CVT transmission. This allows for a smooth and urban friendly power delivery. Its wet weight is around 140 KG and has a fuel tank of 8.5 liters.  The Django has a power output of 11.8 HP and 11.2 Nm of torque. 

The front suspension uses Hydraulic telescopic fork and the rear uses twin hydraulic shocks, both tires are 120/70-12. 

Now that we’ve gotten all that out the way, let’s talk about user experience. I was fortunate enough to get the chance to ride this bike for a week. I had put it through a few different tests, everyday commuting to work, riding through bad weather and night riding up to Genting highlands. When it comes to everyday commuting this machine really shines. A classic scooter platform with enough power to get you from point A to point B, don’t expect it to break any land speed records when i was riding it cut off at 120KM/H. Going through tight rush hour traffic was a breeze and could be done in style. 

I have to say the main takeaway is how stylish this scooter is. It really feels like you’re riding something special, the blend between the classic look and the high tech features really hit the right spot. For me my favorite part would be the short animation on the dash when you turn on the scooter. The TFT dash is very tastefully done, it is just pleasing to look at. 

Riding through all sorts of weather through the city is absolutely fine, this bike really shines on its daily commute. Although on Karak highway it was a bit out of its place, I don’t think I would suggest this scooter as a touring scooter, keeping it in the city is where its supposed to be. 

It handles like how you’d expect a scooter to handle, the rear passenger seat is very comfortable according to my sister who very much enjoyed it in contrast to riding behind my sports bike with less then half the rear seat. It accelerates just fine until 60-70 then it gets slightly out of breath, but at the end of the day it is a 150 CC engine to be fair. 

Over all, the Django Classic 150 is great at doing its job nothing more nothing less. It is a stylish scooter that’ll fulfil your expectations of a scooter made to commute around town. It has a premium feel to it and nice tech features. It is priced at only RM 14,990.
