All-Electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class Previewed In Malaysia, From RM360,888

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has previewed the all-new electric C-Class, introducing the first fully electric version of its C-Class saloon to the local market.

The Malaysian model is the C 300 4MATIC electric AMG Line Plus. It is available for pre-booking at an estimated price of RM360,888.

The electric saloon produces 310kW (421hp) and 800Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0–100km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210km/h.

Range and charging

The C 300 4MATIC electric uses an 85kWh battery, offering a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 690km.

Its 800V electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 320kW. Mercedes-Benz states that the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes under suitable conditions.

The car can also recover up to 290km of driving range in 10 minutes of charging. For AC charging, it comes with a 22kW onboard charger.

The electric drivetrain uses a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. First gear provides stronger acceleration from a standstill, while second gear supports efficiency at higher speeds.

Its 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system adds an electric motor to the front axle. The motor can disconnect when additional traction or power is unnecessary. This reduces front axle energy losses by up to 90%.

Exterior and interior equipment

The electric C-Class has a 2,962mm wheelbase and a drag coefficient starting at 0.22. Its luggage capacity includes a 470-litre rear boot and a 101-litre front storage compartment.

The Malaysian specification includes the AMG Line Plus package, 20-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz grille.

Inside, the saloon features a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that stretches across the dashboard. Other equipment includes a Burmester 3D surround sound system, a selfie and video camera, and augmented reality navigation.

The SKY CONTROL panoramic roof has nine independently switchable glass sections. It also features 162 illuminated stars, with the lighting coordinated with the cabin’s ambient lighting.

Driver assistance and safety

The C 300 4MATIC electric comes with up to 27 cameras and sensors for its driver assistance systems.

Its equipment includes MB.DRIVE ASSIST for steering support and partially automated driving assistance. MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 provides a 360-degree view to assist with parking and manoeuvring.

The saloon also features up to 11 airbags, including a front centre airbag. Other safety equipment includes an acoustic presence indicator that alerts pedestrians and other road users at speeds of up to 30km/h.
