Rome Set to Host Vespa’s Biggest-Ever Global Celebration for 80th Anniversary

Thousands of Vespa enthusiasts from over 60 countries will gather in Rome to celebrate 80 years of the iconic scooter and its enduring global legacy.

Rome is preparing to host the largest celebration in Vespa’s history as the iconic scooter brand marks its 80th anniversary with a four-day global festival from 25 to 28 June 2026.

Known as VESPA ROMA 2026 – 80 Years of an Icon, the event will transform the Italian capital into a gathering point for Vespa enthusiasts from around the world. Thousands of Vespisti representing more than 60 countries are expected to converge in Rome to celebrate eight decades of one of the most recognisable symbols of Italian design, freedom and lifestyle.

The celebration will be centred around the Foro Italico and Stadio dei Marmi, which will be converted into a dedicated Vespa Village featuring historic and modern Vespa models, lifestyle collections, exhibitions, entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.

Rome was chosen as the host city due to its deep connection with Vespa’s heritage. Since its introduction in 1946, the scooter has become closely associated with Italian culture and cinema, with Rome playing a significant role in shaping its global image over the decades.

The four-day programme will feature a range of attractions, including the unveiling of a special commemorative coin issued by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, a first-day postal cancellation ceremony, and an exhibition showcasing 80 years of Vespa history through photography and rare memorabilia.

One of the event’s most anticipated highlights will be the Grand Parade on Saturday, where thousands of Vespa scooters from different generations will ride through Rome’s most iconic landmarks in what is expected to be the largest Vespa procession ever organised.

Other key activities include the European Vespa Rally Championship, the Gymkhana World Championship, a treasure hunt, the Vespa World Club awards ceremony and the traditional Elegance Contest, which will showcase some of the rarest and most valuable Vespa models from around the world.

Throughout the festival, visitors will also enjoy live entertainment, music performances and special guest appearances hosted in collaboration with Radio Deejay.

As Vespa approaches the milestone of nearly 20 million scooters produced worldwide, the anniversary celebration serves as a tribute to a brand that has transcended mobility to become a global cultural icon. Bringing together enthusiasts, collectors and riders from across the globe, Vespa Roma 2026 promises to be a fitting celebration of a legacy that continues to inspire generations nearly 80 years after its creation.
