4×4 Enthusiasts Make Waves At Rompin Beach Bash 2025

Over 300 4×4 enthusiasts transformed the beaches of Rompin into an off-road playground last weekend.

The beaches of Rompin, Pahang transformed into Malaysia’s ultimate off-road adventure playground as the Rompin Beach Bash 2025 brought together camping enthusiasts, 4×4 drivers, and motorcycle riders from across Southeast Asia and beyond. Hosted by By The Billions from June 13-15, 2025, at the scenic Villea Rompin Resort & Golf, this beach camping festival showcased the growing popularity of off-road adventures and outdoor recreation in Malaysia’s east coast region.

Over 300 participants converged on Rompin’s stunning coastline, bringing more than 90 4×4 vehicles, 50 custom motorcycles, and several campervans for a weekend of adrenaline-fueled activities against the backdrop of the South China Sea. The event’s international appeal was evident as adventure seekers traveled from Singapore, Vietnam, and remarkably, even the Netherlands, demonstrating the global reach of Malaysia’s outdoor adventure scene.

Major automotive brands including Michelin, Grantt Lubricants, Red Springs, Pedders Suspension & Brakes, ADA Overland, and Ironman 4×4 supported the festival with over RM 40,000 in prizes and equipment. Collaborative partners like M4TREC, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Malaysia, and Santai Drive meanwhile brought their communities together for this beach adventure festival.

The weekend featured diverse activities designed to test driving skills and foster community spirit among Malaysia’s outdoor adventure community. Saturday’s action-packed schedule began with participants waking to the sounds of custom motorcycles and additional 4×4 vehicles arriving at the beachside campsite. The day’s highlight was the 4×4 Sand Challenge, where 32 vehicles navigated a specially-designed sandy racetrack through beachside forest terrain, passing an abandoned resort to reach the challenging course.

Both experienced off-road drivers and newcomers tested their skills in this time-trial competition, with Khairuddin from Pontian, Johor emerging victorious. Driving his brand-new Suzuki Jimny to first place, he claimed not only bragging rights but also a complete set of AMP Tires off-road tyres sponsored by Red Springs.

As evening approached, the thunderous roar of over 50 custom motorcycles filled the coastal air during the Motorcycle Beach Drag, sponsored by Michelin. Adrenaline-seeking riders competed on the beach for Michelin motorcycle tyres and shared a substantial RM6,000 cash prize pool, adding serious stakes to the competition.

Educational elements elevated the event beyond pure entertainment, with M4TREC instructors from Semenyih demonstrating essential 4×4 recovery techniques directly on the beach. Participants actively engaged in hands-on learning, using the stunning coastline as their outdoor classroom. The Outdoor Cooking Challenge in turn brought together culinary creativity and camping culture, with participants preparing Mexican and Asian fusion dishes while competing for premium Firemaple camp cooking equipment.

The event began with a spectacular convoy drive from Kuala Lumpur’s Ironman 4×4 flagship store in Segambut. Participants braved morning rush hour traffic in their modified 4×4 vehicles, with the convoy growing as enthusiasts from Seremban, Melaka, and Kuantan joined at the designated rendezvous point in Muadzam Shah, Pahang. The journey culminated in an exhilarating final 3-kilometer drive across the sand to reach the beachside campsite, creating an unforgettable arrival experience.

The diverse participant base reflected Malaysia’s multicultural outdoor community, with families, solo adventurers, and automotive enthusiasts sharing meals and stories around campfires. International visitors from Singapore, Vietnam, and the Netherlands seamlessly integrated with local participants, breaking language barriers over shared coffee and camping experiences.

“Everyone had fun and were already looking forward to the next event,” said Afiq Feisal of By The Billions, the local media outfit behind successful automotive events like Land Cruiser Day and Rainforest Trophy Expedition 2024. The Rompin Beach Bash successfully bridged communities across Malaysia’s automotive enthusiast scene, proving that adventure tourism and off-road recreation continue to thrive along Malaysia’s beautiful east coast beaches.
