Facelifted Tesla Model Y Earmarked To Arrive In Malaysia By April
This freshly-updated Tesla Model Y is currently open for orders locally, with prices starting from RM 195,450.
Tesla has recently revealed its newly-facelifted Model Y, and the big news (to Malaysians at least) is that this updated e-SUV will already be landing locally by late April. What more is for those who are really interested in getting their hands on one over here as soon as possible, the local order books for it have incidentally already been flung open too.
What’s New With This Facelift?
Touching here on what is new with this facelift first, it should be immediately obvious to anyone already that this refreshed Model Y now sports much a sleeker snout, complete with a (Cybertruck-esque) full-width LED light bar running right across it.
This full-width LED light bar design is to then be continued round the still-blobby rump of this SUV too, but what is rather unique here is that from the press pictures at least, these ‘integrated diffuse reflection through-type taillight’ appears to have something of a soft glow about its illumination.
A few of the more major technical revisions that have been made to the outside of this refreshed Model Y includes new designs for the wheels and rear diffuser, which Tesla says reduces drag and ‘optimises lift balance’ between the front and rear wheels for less noise and improved stability at high speeds. This refreshed e-SUV has since further gained a silver coating on its panoramic glass roof to reduce the transmission of UV rays and heat into the cabin, while all of its windows are now also double-layered acoustic glass to further isolate noise transmission from penetrating within.
As for changes within the cabin meanwhile, this facelifted Model Y essentially has lifted its cockpit straight from the similarly recently-refreshed Model 3. A large 15.4-inch central landscape touch screen display holds court in the middle of a straight-edged and minimalistic dashboard, while the rear nets an 8-inch unit to play with.
Other changes made within the cabin of the refreshed Model Y includes for its second row seats to now be capable of reclining electrically, while the tailgate also now offers hands-free unlocking as one approaches the rear of the vehicle. Joy of joy too though is the fact that Tesla has retained the indicator stalk on the left side of steering column!
What Variants Will Be Available In Malaysia And How Much Will It Cost?
Two variants of the facelifted Model Y are currently available for order on Tesla Malaysia’s official website: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. The Rear-Wheel Drive is currently priced at RM 195,450, while the Long Range All-Wheel Drive has a price tag of RM 242,450 attached to its name.
The technical specs of both variants are as follows:
Rear-Wheel Drive | Long Range All-Wheel Drive | |
Powertrain | Single-motor rear-wheel drive | Dual-motor all-wheel drive |
0-100 km/h | 5.9 seconds | 4.3 seconds |
Top Speed | 201 km/h | 201 km/h |
Range (WLTP) | 466 km | 551 km |

Vegan suede upholstery is also to be offered on these Launch Series Model Ys if the black interior option is specified, with Launch Series Long Range All-Wheel Drive variants further netting as standard an Acceleration Boost feature.
