This new EON Smart Glenmarie 3S centre also marks EON’s entry into the local EV retail market.
Just two days after the local debut of the smart #1, Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad (EON) has followed up with the opening of the automaker’s first 3S centre in Malaysia. Located within the industrial neighbourhood of Glenmarie, this new one stop shop for all things smart has incidentally also played home to the first-ever local customer delivery of the #1 during its recent opening ceremony.
Now to those who are curious, the first-ever local customer to take delivery of the smart #1 EV was to funnily enough be the district council of Kuala Langat (MPKL). A Quantum Blue example of this fully-electric crossover was graciously received by Dato’ Amirul Azizan Bin Dato’ Sri Abd Rahim, Yang Dipertua Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat, at the end of the recent opening ceremony.
As for the details regarding the newly-opened 3S centre itself meanwhile, EON boasts for the showroom portion at least to span 4,362 square, and has the capacity to showcase three display cars and one unit for new car deliveries. A spacious and comfortable customer lounge equipped with a cafe area, discussion lounge, free Wi-Fi, and a dedicated kid’s room are also to be found on the retail premises.
Existing owners on the other hand will be pleased to know that the aftersales service area holds four service bays in its 3,716 square feet of floor space. Two of the aforementioned bays are dedicated for general service and repair, while another one is for high voltage service, with the last one being used for wheel alignment.
And with this being an EV-centric 3S centre too, there are naturally to be charging bays within its premises. EON smart Glenmarie currently packs two 22kW AC chargers and one 60 kW DC rapid charging station.
EON smart Glenmarie’s showroom is currently open from Monday to Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Operating hours for its service centre meanwhile are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, and is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Akkbar Danial, Head of Automotive Distribution DRB-HICOM and Chief Executive Officer of EON, expressed EON’s commitment towards delivering the smart to Malaysians. “We anticipate our smart 3S dealership will play a pivotal role in meeting the rising demand for smart #1 and making a significant impact on the local EV market”, he said.
He further congratulated the speedy conception of this dealership, which from discussion to its opening apparently only took 2 months. Though an investment of almost RM 4 million into EON smart Glenmarie likely hurried up the process a tad.
There are currently three variants of the smart #1 EV offered in Malaysia. The base-trim Pro starts at a Tesla Model 3-rivalling RM 189,000, while the better-equipped Premium and lightning-quick BRABUS spec retails for RM 219,000 and RM 249,000 respectively.
smart Malaysia currently touts that it has already received over 600 bookings for this EV crossover to date, with the figure likely to increase too given the rather enticing price. Interested parties are currently able to test drive the #1 at this newly opened showroom, with bookings to possibly be done at said 3S centre or via the Hello smart App.
