Porsche 911 Sport Classic is revealed and is limited to 1,250 units

Unlike the recent BMW 7 series, Porsche knows the classic designs or their older models are still popular today among many car enthusiasts. Porsche have even gone as far as to banking on their old designs by coming out with the Heritage Design series. They started of this series by giving us the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition way back in 2018. Now, they’ve went and taken the 911, arguably their most iconic model, and made it the second model of the Heritage Design series, calling it the Porsche 911 Sport Classic.

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic has its appearance directly inspired by the original 911 from the ‘60s and early ’70s as well as the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The new 992 model has wider body than usual, following the footsteps of the 911 Turbo models. Its Sport Grey Metallic finish takes inspiration from the original grey paintwork found on the Porsche 356. For customers with other colour preferences, Black, Agate Grey Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic colours are also an option.

That’s not all, as Porsche are giving its customers multiple customization options with the new 911 Sport Classic. Racing graphics like double stripes on the bonnet, a double-dome roof and a racing number of your choice between 0-100 (no extra charge) can be changed to your liking. These graphic options are paired with a large CFRP ducktail spoiler, 20 and 21-inch centre-lock wheels, Fuchs designed rims, gold-coloured Porsche badges and logos and the iconic Porsche crest.

Under the bonnet, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic boasts a 3.7-litre, twin-turbo flat-six engine that outputs 550PS. This makes it the most powerful manual 911 Porsche available, with a performance level between that of the 911 GTS and 911 Turbo. The engine is mated with a seven-speed manual gearbox with an auto-blip function for smoother and quicker gear shifts. Other features include the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), Rear axle steering and High-Gloss Black brake callipers.

As for the interior, Porsche has taken the more modern approach while still leaving pieces of history within. The highlight is the iconic pepita houndstooth pattern on the doors and seats, which is a throwback to the 60’s and 70’s. The instrument cluster has been modernized with two seven-inch displays featuring an analogue rev counter. The same Porsche crest from the exterior is also found throughout the inside, as well as the Porsche logos and badges in gold.

The interior is finished with mostly high-quality leather and an open-pore dark Paldao wood trim. Race-Tex fabric is also found on the roof lining and on the A-, B- and C-pillars. The vehicles key is also matched with the car’s exterior colour while having a leather case following the interiors colour.
