Hyundai Ioniq 9 Comes To Singapore And Soon Malaysia

Will Malaysians get to buy this Hyundai Ioniq 9

With the setting up of the Hyundai Motor Malaysia Office in Menara TRX in June 2025, can we look forward to seeing latest Hyundai models in Malaysia like we see in Singapore?

Just yesterday, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 was launched in Singapore by its local brand guardian, Komoco Cars and it is offered in Singapore in the Standard variant, which has a single motor and seven seats, while the dual-motor Calligraphy variant is available with either six or seven seats.

The Hyundai IONIQ 9 stands out as a luxurious, spacious, three-row electric SUV with futuristic design, exceptional tech like generative AI assistant and 100W USB-C ports in all rows, plus long range (up to 620km WLTP) and ultra-fast charging (10-80% in 24 mins), all built on a large wheelbase for limousine-like comfort, offering a premium family hauler that blends bold style with practical and high-tech living.

Built on the E-GMP platform, like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, the Ioniq 9 measures 5,060 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm – the longest of any Hyundai model. These dimensions may present challenges for parking in some locations.

The vehicle features Parametric Pixels in the daytime running lights, headlights, and tail-lamps, consistent with other Ioniq models.

On the inside, it includes a panoramic curved display that integrates a 12-inch instrument cluster with a 12-inch infotainment screen. The centre console has minimal switchgear, and the gear selector is positioned on the steering column.

The Ioniq 9 incorporates ‘Universal Island 2.0’, the latest version of the centre console. The upper tray provides 5.6 litres of storage, while the lower tray provides 12.6 litres. The entire console can slide up to 190 mm between the front seats and the second row.

The boot offers 338 litres of space with the third-row seats in place, increasing to 908 litres when folded.

A front trunk (frunk) provides 88 litres of storage in the Standard model and 52 litres in the Calligraphy variants. The six-seater Calligraphy variant has captain’s chairs with ventilation, heating, and extendable leg rests. These powered seats slide forward and backward at the touch of a button, allowing access to the third row. Third-row seats include electric reclining functions and dedicated overhead air-conditioning vents.

The rear-wheel-drive Ioniq 9 Standard has a single motor producing 218 PS and 350 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. The 110.3 kWh battery provides a maximum range of 620 km.

The Ioniq 9 Calligraphy has dual motors generating 226.1 kW and 605 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds. The same battery offers a total driving range of 600 km.
