Zeekr Emerges as Malaysia’s No.1 Premium EV Brand in 2026 YTD Performance

Strong Demand for Zeekr 7X and Zeekr 009 Drives Continued Growth in Malaysia’s Premium EV Segment

Intelligent Technology Malaysia continues to build strong momentum in the local electric vehicle market, emerging as Malaysia’s No.1 premium EV brand based on its 2026 year-to-date performance.

According to April 2026 registration data from the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ), Zeekr recorded 357 EV registrations in April alone, bringing its year-to-date tally to 1,214 units.

The achievement positions Zeekr as Malaysia’s leading premium EV brand ahead of other premium-positioned EV manufacturers, including Tesla, while also ranking as the fourth best-selling EV brand overall in Malaysia.

Zeekr Leads Malaysia’s Premium EV Segment

Zeekr’s strong year-to-date performance reflects growing acceptance among Malaysian customers seeking premium electric mobility solutions that combine advanced technology, luxury, and intelligent features.

In less than two years since establishing its presence in Malaysia, Zeekr has recorded a cumulative sales volume of 3,849 units across its local model range, comprising:

  • 2,509 units of the Zeekr 7X
  • 1,166 units of the Zeekr 009
  • 174 units of the Zeekr X

Zeekr’s position as Malaysia’s No.1 premium EV brand in 2026 is further reinforced by the strong performance of both the Zeekr 7X and Zeekr 009.

The Zeekr 7X has emerged as Malaysia’s No.1 premium electric SUV, while the Zeekr 009 currently leads the premium electric MPV segment locally.

Zeekr 7X Continues Strong Momentum

The Zeekr 7X recorded 303 units sold in April 2026 alone. By comparison, the Tesla Model Y recorded 67 registered units during the same period.

The Zeekr 7X also ranks as Malaysia’s fourth best-selling EV model overall for 2026 year-to-date, with 999 units delivered since January 2026 based on JPJ data.

Its closest competitor in the premium segment, the Tesla Model Y, recorded 371 units year-to-date — approximately one-third of the Zeekr 7X’s total.

Meanwhile, the Zeekr 009 recorded 51 units sold in April, with 204 units registered year-to-date, making it Malaysia’s No.1 premium electric MPV model for 2026. Since launch, the Zeekr 009 has achieved a cumulative sales volume of 1,166 units locally.

Expanding Network and Customer Commitment

Zeekr Malaysia has also strengthened its commitment to the local market through continued dealer network expansion. The brand currently operates 10 showrooms and four service centres nationwide.

“We are encouraged by the strong response from Malaysian customers and proud that Zeekr has emerged as Malaysia’s No.1 premium EV brand. This achievement reflects the trust customers have placed in Zeekr and reinforces our commitment to bringing premium electric vehicles to Malaysia,” said Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia.

“We remain focused on growing our presence in Malaysia to deliver tech-luxe EVs that blend high-end luxury with advanced smart technology to meet the discerning needs of Malaysian drivers,” he added.

The Zeekr 7X has played a central role in the brand’s rapid growth, strengthening Zeekr’s position in the premium electric SUV segment through its combination of intelligent technology, advanced safety systems, premium comfort, and dynamic driving performance.

The model was recently recognised with the “SUV of the Year (RM200k–RM500k)” award at the Malaysia Car of the Year Awards 2025 and the “Electric SUV of the Year” title at the Vehicle of the Year Awards 2026.
