Facelifted Volkswagen Arteon Open For Bookings Locally

Prices for this updated Volkswagen Arteon is expected to be around the RM 250k mark.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has recently announced the imminent arrival of the facelifted Arteon locally. Arriving in a sole R-Line 4MOTION trim, this updated fastback that is now open for bookings brings with it more power, all-wheel drive, as well as a host of other exterior and interior enhancements.

Kicking off with the new stuff under the hood first, the headline story surrounding this updated Arteon will be its uprated 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged four cylinder, that now churns out 280 PS and 350 Nm of torque. A significant bump over the 190 PS and 230 Nm of its pre-facelift predecessor, this round of refreshes also brings with it VW’s 7-speed wet-clutch DSG and a new 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which hence nets a century sprint time of an impressive 5.6 seconds.

Moving onto the exterior of this facelifted Arteon meanwhile, its front fascia have been given a light nip-and-tuck to better complement its standard LED headlights and a new light bar running right across the redesigned front grille. And on the subject of its lights, the rear of this refreshed Volkswagen fastback adds a new 3D LED rear light signature with sequential indicators to complement its revised rear bumper.

The other exterior enhancement worth highlighting is that this updated Arteon will be the first Volkswagen sold locally to be bearing the new VW and R logos. Such as can be clearly seen on the front and rear of this facelifted fastback, not to mention featuring on its new steering wheel with haptic touch controls in addition to being embroidered on the reshaped Nappa Carbon leather-lined ErgoComfort sports seats within its cabin.

That’s not all however for the refresh performed within the updated Arteon, as this facelifted VW fastback gains a new angular air vent design, touch sensitive switches on the climate control and loses its central analogue clock. The 9.2-inch Discover Pro central infotainment system and the fully digital instrument cluster has been carried over though, and is now complemented by a new 700-watt 12-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system.

As for safety kit, the facelifted Arteon gains Lane Assist, Side Assist, and Driver Alert. Autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control unfortunately still eludes the local examples of this updated VW fastback.

What is unfortunate too is that this updated Arteon R-Line 4MOTION has now also gained a significant price bump. Initially retailing for RM 221,000 when it first debut here last year, this facelifted model is now expected command a price tag of between RM 245,000 and RM255,000 when it eventually arrives.

To those though think that the added power and kit is worth the extra outlay and want to make a booking on this facelifted flagship of the local VW lineup, one may do so over at the Volkswagen eShowroom that is linked here. Five exterior colours are available for selection with the refreshed Arteon: Lapiz Blue Metallic, Manganese Grey Metallic, Pyrite Silver Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, and Oryx White Pearl, but they also do look mighty fine in green too.

PRESS RELEASE: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is now accepting pre-bookings for the new Arteon R-Line 4MOTION. Locally assembled at Pekan, Pahang, the new Arteon is expected to be priced between RM245,000 and RM255,000 when it launches.

Introduced to the Malaysian market last year, the Arteon is Volkswagen’s flagship model – a true showstopper that combines a sleek silhouette with dynamic handling and performance. All style and speed, the new Arteon is offered with new enhancements, including updated interior and exterior, new technology and a new engine.

The first model to carry the new Volkswagen and R logos, the athleticism of the Arteon R-Line is further emphasised with sporty R-Line trimmings. The redesigned front grille and bumper are more prominent and compliments its full LED headlights. At the rear, new LED 3D lights with sequential indicators adds character to the Arteon’s sloping fastback design.

The Arteon is built for performance and is powered by a 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine. Paired with a 7-speed wet clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG), it produces an impressive output of 280PS and torque of 350Nm between 5,100 to 6,500rpm, all transferred via a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. 5.6 seconds is all it will take for the Arteon to outperform its competitors in a century run of zero to hundred.

Its new cockpit was designed to impress – highlights include a new steering wheel with haptic touch controls, ErgoComfort sports seats in Nappa Carbon leather featuring the new R logo, and a premium Harman Kardon 700-watt 12-speaker audio system. The 9.2” Discover Pro infotainment comes with voice and gesture control, and now supports both wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the driver, a high-resolution Digital Cockpit offers convenience and customisation at the touch of the fingertips. Safety is a key feature, and the driver assistance system in the new Arteon includes Lane Assist, Side Assist, and Driver Alert.

The new Arteon R-Line 4MOTION is available in five colours – metallic options are Lapiz Blue, Manganese Grey, Pyrite Silver, while pearl effect colours are Deep Black and Oryx White.

Bookings can be made at the Volkswagen eShowroom. For additional information, visit the Arteon R-Line 4MOTION page here.
