Toyota Recalls 28,282 Raizes In The Philippines Over Faulty ECUs

This ECU fault in the Toyota Raize could cause a loss in brake booster pressure under certain driving conditions.
Toyota Motor Philippines has recently announced a recall affecting 28,282 units of its Raize compact crossover, due to a potential engine control unit (ECU) fault. The recall applies to vehicles manufactured between December 1, 2021, and July 15, 2024.
According to a letter submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Toyota is recalling these units due to improper ECU programming, which under certain driving conditions, such as frequent braking in high-altitude areas, may cause the suction pressure in the brake booster to not be maintained as designed. This issue could therefore result in increased brake pedal resistance, potentially leading to longer stopping distances and increased safety risks.
The automaker has stated that this ECU fault can be resolved through a simple reprogramming procedure, which will be carried out free of charge at authorised Toyota dealerships. Toyota Motor Philippines has since also stated notify affected owners via an Official Notification Letter. Customers are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment with any authorised dealer as soon as possible to have the necessary repairs completed.
Now more pertinently to Malaysians meanwhile, despite the Toyota Raize sharing its platform with the Perodua Ativa, there has been no such recall notice issued from Perodua yet regarding this specific issue.
