Gurney Paragon Mall Introduces Touch ’n Go PayDirect

Gurney Paragon Mall will be the first mall in Penang to introduce the Touch ’n Go PayDirect parking system.

Touch ’n Go PayDirect has finally touched down in the Penang car parking scene, with the Gurney Paragon Mall becoming the first mall in the state to introduce this new parking payment system.

Now to those unfamiliar with Touch ’n Go PayDirect, what this essentially means is that the parking charged will now be automatically deducted from one’s Touch ’n Go eWallet, instead of the balance from the physical card itself like before. All users will need to do to activate this feature is tap in and tap out of the mall parking lot with their Touch ’n Go cards that have been added into the Touch ’n Go eWallet.

This thereby reduces the need for mall patrons to discover balance is low and go frantically hunting for a Touch ’n Go top-up kiosk to reload their cards for the parking fee. Moreover, this new feature will apparently lead to less congestion at the entrances and exits of the mall, especially during busy days or nearing mall closing hours.

“With the Touch ‘n Go PayDirect method of payment, this unwanted and time-consuming step is taken away,” said Khor Tze Ming, Group Executive Director of Hunza Properties Berhad, while expressing her satisfaction with this new parking feature.

Additionally, to further entice the use of this new convenient parking feature, users will be able to enjoy a 20% cashback (that is capped at RM 1) when paying for their parking using Touch ‘n Go PayDirect at Gurney Paragon Mall. This promotion however is only limited to 1 cashback per user throughout the promotional period that runs from 1st March 2021 to 30th April 2021, and is only limited to the first 10,000 redemptions.

Furthermore, it is just worth highlighting that there will be no parking surcharge to be applied when patrons to the Gurney Paragon Mall decide to park using Touch n’ Go. In fact, this particular shopping mall in Penang was ‘one of the pioneer sites that is supporting Touch ‘n Go’s initiative in removing parking surcharge to users’, according to Chong Fhui, Chief Commercial Officer of Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd.

Speaking more about this new Touch ’n Go PayDirect feature added to the Gurney Paragon Mall carpark, Chong Fhui said that “in light of the pandemic, people are constantly on the lookout for safe, convenient and innovative payment options. “Touch ‘n Go PayDirect is one such example and through our partnership with Gurney Paragon Mall, we hope to address this need, by increasing availability and easy access to the technology, so that user’s continue to see value in our service propositions.”
