Mercedes-Benz GLC200 4Matic Debuts Locally Costing RM 329,888

This purely-petrol GLC200 comes to join the PHEV GLC350e that initially arrived late last year.

Following that earlier introduction of the second-generation GLC in PHEV 350e form, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now complemented the lineup with the recent launch of the GLC200. This locally assembled purely petrol mid-sized SUV rolls out of Pekan priced at RM 329,888, which also just happens to be RM 69,000 less than its plug-in hybrid sibling.

Now rather rarely for a Mercedes-Benz these days, the GLC200 actually reflects its badge and packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 204 PS and 320 Nm, supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that contributes an additional 17 kW (23 PS) and 205 Nm. Power goes to all four wheels via a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 221 km/h.

Exterior kit mirrors much of the GLC350e’s, though the GLC200 comes with LED High Performance headlights (with optional Adaptive High Beam Assist) and does without the panoramic sunroof. Polished aluminium roof rails, aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs, and a set of 20-inch AMG five-spoke wheels complete the look, which behind those wheels sits Agility Control suspension with driver-selectable damping.

Inside, the cabin features anthracite line-structure wood trim with a metal-finish centre console, complemented by the AMG Line interior package. ARTICO man-made leather upholstery in black appears on the seats, instrument panel, and beltline in a nappa-like finish. A multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather and AMG sports pedals have also been thrown in to add that final sporty flair to the proceedings.

Tech highlights include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also featured onboard are 64-colour ambient lighting, a fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and six fast-charging Type-C USB ports.

Creature comforts extend to THERMATIC automatic climate control, heat- and noise-insulating acoustic glass, roller sunblinds for the rear doors, and power-folding rear seat backrests. And speaking of the rear, the GLC200 4Matic also nets a 620-litre boot, a useful step up from the 490 litres in the PHEV GLC350e.

Safety and driver assistance features include Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and the PRE-SAFE system. The GLC200 also comes with the Parking Package featuring a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, and a transparent bonnet view in off-road mode.

Amanda Zhang, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, highlighted the model’s importance by noting that since its introduction, the Mercedes-Benz GLC has become one of the brand’s most significant models, chosen by over 2.6 million customers worldwide. She added that the launch of the new GLC 200 4MATIC continues this success story in Malaysia by combining refined comfort, advanced safety, and confident all-terrain capability. According to her, the model further reinforces the GLC’s leadership in the luxury SUV segment while meeting the needs of both daily life and more adventurous lifestyles.
