Out of 23,119 Perodua cars sold in November, 5,027 of them found new owners on that single day.
Perodua has recently announced that it had registered 5,027 cars in a single day on the 30th of November. This impressive feat represents the most number of units ever registered by the Malaysian automaker in a single day, and accounts for a staggering 22% of Perodua’s cumulative sales in November.
Speaking of the November sales figure, the Malaysian automaker has reported a sales figure of 23,119 cars in the 11th month of 2020. While slightly down on the two preceding record sales months, with a sales figure of 25,035 units in September and 26,852 units in October, Perodua is still confident on meeting its year-end sales target of 210,000 registration, having already sold over 195,000 cars till date this year.
Of the 23,119 cars sold over in November, the ever-popular Myvi comes out on top in the model breakdown with 6,295 units leaving Perodua dealership that month. Coming in a close second and third meanwhile is the Axia supermini and Bezza compact sedan, with 6,318 and 6,224 units sold respectively last month. The Aruz SUV and Alza compact MPV round up the list, with 2,617 and 1,665 units apiece finding new owners in November.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Perodua Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad has stated that, “Perodua’s two main priorities at present are to ensure as many of our valued customers as possible can get their cars before year-end to enjoy the sales tax-exempt prices; and to further bolster the Malaysian automotive ecosystem with our economies of scale in these hard times.”
PRESS RELEASE: Perodua continues to advance strongly towards its year-end target as the carmaker posted sales of 23,119 cars in November 2020, including an impressive 5,027 units on the 30th – the most it has ever registered in a single day.
“Our November sales represents a slight normalising from the previous two record months we had – 25,035 units in September and 26,852 units in October,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
“Yet the accomplishment is impressive given the challenging economic climate and new normal operating procedures brought about by COVID-19. And our 5,027-unit one-day record shows what resilience, persistence and adaptability can bring,” he added.
With 6,295 Myvis, 6,318 Axias, 6,224 Bezzas, 2,617 Aruz and 1,665 Alzas finding homes in November, Perodua has sold over 195,000 cars so far this year. Based on its sales momentum, the carmaker is on track to meet its 210,000-unit year-end registration target.
“Perodua’s two main priorities at present are to ensure as many of our valued customers as possible can get their cars before year-end to enjoy the sales tax-exempt prices; and to further bolster the Malaysian automotive ecosystem with our economies of scale in these hard times.
“Over 90% of our components are locally-sourced, and coupled with our sales volume, this generates significant business for Malaysian component suppliers and helps them sustain jobs,” said Dato’ Zainal.
“The completed cars are then distributed through Malaysia’s largest car sales network, the majority of which constitute independent dealers that benefit greatly from the business, and even more if they do servicing and repairs as well,” he added.
