Proton Launches The Exora and Persona Black Editions

You wouldn’t guess what colour these special edition Proton models come in.

Proton has recently launched four special edition models of its existing (read: ageing) local lineup. Aside from the Iriz and Saga R3 Limited Editions, the two other cars to get the makeover are the Exora and Persona Black Editions.

As the name should indicate, these are essentially Quartz Black painted versions of the Exora and Persona. Nevertheless, there are some additional blackness in the form of black headlight garnish and a matte black finish on both the front grilles of these special edition Protons.

Furthermore, let it be noted that these Protons ain’t all black only as there are some matte gold exterior trimmings too on the side skirts, front and rear bumper trim, as well as the boot lid badge on both cars. Additionally, these two models feature machined gold-finish multi-spoke alloy wheels (15-inch on the Persona, 16-inch on the Exora), just to liven things up that little bit more.

Continuing on the topic of the gold accents, these also feature within the cabins of both these Black Edition Persona and Exora models too. With the matte gold finish to be observed on the centre console surround, gear shift surround and contrast stitching on the seats.

Aside from all flashes of gold, the black treatment has also been amped up here courtesy of black instrument panel, retrimmed black leatherette seats, door cards and a new black headliner. The last of which is only available on the Persona, though the Exora Black Edition on the other hand is now equipped with an overhead monitor for the benefit of the rear occupants of this family minivan.

Now moving onto the mechanicals of both cars, both Black Edition Protons retain the same powertrain combination as its non-special edition counterparts. This therefore means that this special edition Exora here retains the same 140 PS/205 Nm 1.6 litre Campro turbocharged unit, while the Persona features a 107 hp/150 Nm 1.6 litre VVT four-cylinder. Both engines are mated to a CVT gearbox that drives the front wheels.

Prices for the Persona and Exora Black Editions are RM 54,700 and RM 67,800. The prices stated here are inclusive of the SST exemption and are valid till the 30th of June 2021. Only 500 units of the Persona and Exora Black Edition will be produced, with both models currently available for bookings at Proton dealerships nationwide.
