Isuzu D-MAX 2.2L turbocharged diesel engines finally arrives in Malaysia
Malaysia’s first Automatic Single Cab joins the line-up

The revolutionary 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel-powered Isuzu D-MAX has arrived, delivering enhanced driving pleasure, technological superiority, and class-leading clean emissions for discerning pick-up truck owners.
As an award-winning model, the Isuzu D-MAX already offers significant benefits, including legendary fuel efficiency, dependability, performance, and versatility. Combined with its good looks and well-specified comfort and safety features, it remains one of the most complete and capable pick-up trucks in the market.

The bar is now raised further with the introduction of the new 2026 Isuzu D-MAX range, featuring the latest 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It improves on every aspect of the 1.9-litre version from power, torque, driveability, and refinement to fuel efficiency, eco-friendliness, and reliability earning it the title of ‘Isuzu’s Best Engine ever’.
Speaking at the launch, Isuzu Malaysia CEO Tomoyuki Yamaguchi expressed confidence that the new engine will further boost demand for capable and versatile pick-up trucks.
“Our 1.9-litre range has been very popular among users for its smooth, comfortable, and efficient performance. Today, we introduce a new level of driving pleasure with the all-new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel range, offering improved driving character and greater fuel efficiency,” he said.
Producing 163PS at 3,600rpm (an 8.7% increase), the new engine also delivers 400Nm of torque (up 14.3%) between 1,600rpm and 2,400rpm. More than half of this torque is available from 1,000rpm, providing strong low-end performance. It is paired with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift for improved driving dynamics.
The flagship X-Terrain continues with the 3.0L engine, while the 2.2L engine is offered from the Premium 4×4 variant, followed by the 4×2 Auto Plus and Standard 4×4 models. Also joining the line-up is Malaysia’s first Single Cab with an automatic transmission, featuring the same 8-speed gearbox, revised final drive, and Rough Terrain Mode for improved off-road capability.
The entire 2.2-litre range complies with Euro 5 emission standards, making it one of the greenest in its class.
Updates to the 2026 model include new light clusters, grille, rims, and side steps, along with new colours such as Inishmore Green Metallic and Obsidian Gray Mica. Automatic variants feature body-coloured bumpers for a more modern look.
Additional upgrades include a 10” infotainment system for selected variants, a 7” head unit for the Standard model, Tailgate Assist, and Rough Terrain Mode now standard across all 4×4 models.
With its refreshed design, improved driving dynamics, better fuel economy, and minimal road tax difference, the new 2.2L Isuzu D-MAX is expected to remain Isuzu’s volume model.
Prices start from RM103,121.20 (Peninsular Malaysia) for the 2.2L Single Cab (M), while the 2.2L Premium 4×4 is priced from RM141,821.20. All variants come with a 20,000km/2-year free service package and a 5-year/150,000km warranty, while the X-Terrain offers a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.
