Naza Italia Maserati has officially launched the Maserati MC20 in Malaysia. This supercar made its global premiere almost two years ago and it is only now arriving into Malaysia. The convertible variant of the vehicle called the MC20 Cielo also recently made its global debut in May.
The MC20 was developed by Maserati Innovation Lab, and produced at the historic plant on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena, it is 100% made in Italy. It took Maserati two years to developed it.
The Maserati MC20 is a very important car for the company. It’s the first model of the start of the brand’s new era. The ‘MC’ in its name stands for Maserati Corse and the 20 for the year 2020, which was the year of its launch. It is the first Maserati in the past two decades to get a Maserati-designed and produced motor, the Nettuno engine.
The 2.9-litre V6 twin turbocharged Nettuno engine delivers 630hp and 730Nm of torque. This is paired to an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission with six power and two overdrive speeds. With this, 0-100km/h only takes a mere 2.9 seconds to achieve and the top speed is 325km/h.
The development of the car has been focused entirely on performance. The MC20 is an extremely lightweight car, weighing under 1,500kg. It’s the best in class in terms of weight/power ratio, at just 2.33kg/hp. The design is also very aerodynamic with butterfly doors and carbon fibre materials.
Interior-wise, the MC20 has a very simplistic driver-oriented dashboard only consisting of two 10-inch displays. They are used as a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system, called Maserati Touch Control Plus.
Only needed features are present. They include a wireless smartphone charger, the driving mode selector (GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa and a fifth, ESC Off, which deactivates the control functions), two speed selection buttons, the power window controls, the Multimedia System controls, and a handy storage compartment underneath the armrest.
The Maserati MC20 is priced at RM1,078,000 before local duties and taxes, customization options, and insurance. The price includes 3 years Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction plus a Free maintenance program of 3 years/ 60,000 km whichever comes first (Inclusive of *Maserati Premium Service Plus of 3 Years /60,000 km). The Maserati MC20 is available in six colours: Bianco Audace, Giallo Genio, Rosso Vincente, Blu Infinito, Nero Enigma and Grigio Mistero.
