Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition Lands In North America
Buyers of this special Defender will also net an entrance to the Land Rover U.S. Trophy Competition.
While the all-new iteration of Defender has certainly moved away from its utilitarian roots and has become more of a Chelsea tractor, Land Rover is nevertheless still very adamant on showcasing its 4×4 prowess at every opportunity. And the latest of which comes in the form of this newly launched Trophy Edition exclusively for North America, that brings with it even more off-road equipment than stock, not to mention a ‘two-person entry to a one-day off-road adventure in the Land Rover U.S. Trophy Competition’ too.
Starting first though on what distinguishes these Trophy Edition Defenders from the stock 2022 Defender 110 P400 X-Dynamic SE on which it is based, these limited-run Landies net a slew of additional all-terrain toys that include an expedition roof rack, front under-shield, deployable ladder, winch installation kit, mud flaps, integrated air compressor, deep sided and load space rubber mats. Standard too on these special edition SUVs are the previously-optional tow hitch receiver, ClearSight RearView, Air Suspension Pack, Cold Climate Pack, Off-road Pack, and Advanced Off-road Capability Pack.
Probably the most eye-catching thing on this special edition Defender however is its black-and-yellow wrap, which was inspired by the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy. These Trophy Editions also feature an old-school Land Rover logo decal on its doors, presumably paying homage to the Land Rovers that competed in the annual Camel Trophy off-road event that was held from 1980 to 2000.
Now speaking more about off-road events and touching more on the aforementioned Land Rover U.S. Trophy Competition meanwhile, buyers of this Trophy Edition will be offered the rare opportunity to enter this one-day competition held at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Taking place from the 11th of October 2021, the overall winning team there will then get to compete at a similar outing at Eastnor Castle in the United Kingdom come early 2022.
Prices for the Defender Trophy Edition starts from $90,000 (RM 380,000) when it hits select North American Land Rover dealerships in August. Only 220 units will ever be produced.
“The Defender Trophy Edition evokes the spirit of adventure with an array of off-road accessories and special features created for the ultimate Land Rover enthusiast,” said Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO of JLR North America. “We’re looking forward to putting on a memorable adventure competition for our Defender Trophy Edition customers that will not only put these vehicles to the test but will also create a special shared experience honouring the rich heritage of the Land Rover brand.”

The overall winning team, as determined by a judging panel, will go on to compete at The Land Rover Trophy Competition at Eastnor Castle in the U.K., the spiritual home of Land Rover testing and development, to take place early 2022.
