All New Isuzu D-Max Now Open For Bookings Locally

This comes ahead of the official local arrival of the Isuzu D-Max at the end of April. 

Isuzu Malaysia has recently announced that the all-new third generation D-Max is now open for bookings locally before its official launch at the end of this month. Arriving well ahead of its speculated introduction in 2022, Malaysia will be the fifth country in the world to receive this new pickup truck after its global launch in Thailand some 18 months prior. 

A well-established name in the pickup truck market already, the third generation D-Max now sports a significantly cleaner yet more aggressive exterior design as compared to its already angry-looking predecessor. Coming complete with a massive front grille that is flanked by bi-LED headlight clusters, a slightly more aerodynamic side profile and even integrated rear bumpers on certain models. 

Continuing on the exterior of this latest generation D-Max, this new model is also slightly larger than its predecessor too courtesy of it sitting on the new Isuzu Dynamic Drive Platform. Claimed to be lighter yet stiffer in construction, this new ladder-frame chassis also serves as a platform for the upgraded suspension, steering and brakes to further enhance the ‘comfort, space and versatility’ that will supposedly be on offer with this upcoming pickup truck. 

As for the powertrain options with this new D-Max, under the hood of this new Japanese pickup still remains the same engines as its predecessor, which in the form of a 1.9 litre or a 3.0 litre turbodiesel unit that is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Despite the engine choices being the same however, it is nevertheless worth highlighting that the 3.0 litre unit in particular has been revised to produced a bit more power now, and both these engines sit further back in the bay for better weight distribution. 

Now stepping inside the more spacious cabin of this new Isuzu, an interestingly-styled dashboard layout is dominated by a 9-inch central infotainment touchscreen with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other luxury accoutrements like leather seats (power adjustable on the driver’s side), soft touch interior materials and ‘a host of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS)’ will also be made available in selected variants of this new D-Max. 

Speaking of variants, the new D-Max will still be available in both single-cab and double cab configurations. Prices for this upcoming pickup are still subject to government approval, but Isuzu estimates for it to range from between RM89,000 and RM145,000. 

Though these prices are a significant step up from what its predecessor retails for, this new D-Max however has since proved to be a sales hit wherever it goes. So in order be one of the first in Malaysia to have one of these hot-selling trucks, prospective pickup buyers can now begin to place their orders for this upcoming model at the various Isuzu dealerships nationwide.

Announcing that pre-launch bookings of the new model will begin today at Isuzu dealerships nationwide, Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Malaysia’s Light Commercial Division Mr Masayuki Suzuki said that the fast-tracked launch of the all-new Isuzu D-Max was made possible through the support of Isuzu Motors Ltd that views Malaysia as a strategic market.

“We are extremely thrilled that this impressive all-new Isuzu D-Max has been made available in Malaysia much earlier than expected. As the fifth country in the world to launch this model after its global introduction in Thailand, it stands as testament to the strong commitment from Isuzu Motors towards ensuring that the Malaysian market enjoys the latest selection of choice Isuzu vehicles,” he said. 

The all-new Isuzu D-Max model has been extensively developed to exceed the normal perimeters of a pick-up truck while adding an emotive dimension to its highly dependable and impressively-capable character. Developed on a design theme of bold and sporty, the all-new Isuzu D-Max presents a strong road presence from its masculine frontal design and purposeful outline that exudes a more athletic and dynamic stance.

With its larger overall dimensions that include a longer wheelbase, more spacious cabin and larger load bed, the all-new Isuzu D-Max affords owners with all-round improvements to its comfort, space and versatility making this a more desirable truck for every purpose.

Available in a variety of configurations including single or double cab guise and powered by a choice of the award-winning RZ-4E 1.9-litre powerplant or a revised 4JJ-3TCX 3-litre engine, this all-new Isuzu D-Max range is set to be a game changer for the brand.

Scoring the maximum five-star safety rating in the 2020 ASEAN NCAP tests, the all-new Isuzu D-Max offers a new level of safety to offer improved protection for occupants as well as other road users. Aiding drivers will be a host of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) available in selected variants.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max that will make its debut at the end of April 2021 is estimated to be priced between RM89,000 and RM145,000 depending on model subject to government approvals.
