Honda ZR-V has been revealed in China
After a teaser earlier this May, The Honda ZR-V has been officially revealed in China at the 2022 Guangzhou Auto Show in China. The Honda ZR-V or also known as ‘Zhizai’ in China is basically a Honda HR-V but for the Chinese car market with a few differences.
The Honda ZR-V is based on the 11th-generation Civic, using the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The ‘Z’ in the name of the SUV shows that Honda’s intends to target the Generation Z buyers. It has also been confirmed that the Honda ZR-V will be a C-segment SUV, positioned between the HR-V and the CR-V. It looks very similar to the new American HR-V.
In terms of dimensions, the exact size of the SUV has been confirmed and it measures in at 4,568 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height. For comparison’s sake, the HR-V measures in at 4,385 in length, 1,790 in width and 1,590 in height. The ZR-V appears to be slightly larger.
Like we mentioned above, the ZR-V is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, the European market will be getting a different powertrain, with the exclusive I-MMD petrol-electric hybrid. Meanwhile, the petrol version engine will output 182PS and 240Nm of torque. It is also paired with a CVT transmission just like the Civic.
The Civic’s influence continues with the interior. The Honda ZR-V sports a similar 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the lengthy air-conditioning vents. Underneath that is a large storage compartment with two USB-C ports. However, the centre console is much different with a few features removed like the cup holders while electronic parking brake and a few buttons are added.
Pricing for the ZR-V has yet to be revealed. It has been confirmed that the ZR-V will be launched soon but its not certain that it would enter Southeast Asia. If it does, it might not do so well as it’s expected to sell at a high price.
