Facelifted Honda Civic Teased For A Local Launch In January 2025

The order books for this facelifted Honda Civic have since also been flung open for prospective bookings.

While there is still a few more days left in 2024, Honda Malaysia appears to already looking ahead to 2025. And it looks like the big H is aiming to kick next year off with a bang too, as it has recently teased that it will soon be launching the facelifted Civic in January!

Having previously made its regional debut in Thailand back in August, this newly-updated Civic is currently one of two models that Honda Malaysia has confirmed to be launching locally in the coming 12 months. The other car that the Japanese automaker is intending to debut over here in 2025 is its first-ever EV, with the e:N1 that was showcased at KLIMS just last week is coincidentally enough also currently locally-assembled in the Land of Smiles.

Aside from teasing its imminent arrival, Honda Malaysia has also since announced that bookings for this facelifted Civic are currently now open. Those expecting further details regarding specs and prices before placing an order will unfortunately be disappointed, as such information is currently set to only be fully revealed when the car officially debuts next month.

That said, Honda has at least confirmed that, like its pre-facelift predecessor, there will be two RS variants on offer with this updated Civic: the e:HEV RS and Petrol RS. If going by what is currently offered in Thailand too, the revisions that have been made to this sedan this time round is light to say the least.

Among the exterior changes made to this this updated Civic pretty much start and end with some mildly redesigned bumpers on both ends of the vehicle, with the front unit now featuring a honeycomb grille and shaped in such a way to give this sedan a more jutted-out jaw than before. Honda Malaysia has nevertheless confirmed that the e:HEV RS will be featuring a new ’18-inch Matte Grey Alloy Wheel design’, with the other purely-petrol variants likely to also net a redesigned set of rolling stock as well.

Moving on within now, the facelift launched in Thailand sports a new nine-inch touchscreen head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (previously Android Auto was wired). The facelifted Civic has also been confirmed to still land locally with its usual suite Honda SENSING active driver aids, along with the Honda CONNECT smartphone connectivity and telematics feature.

Finally finishing up under the hood, all facelifted Civics are set to soldier on with the same powertrains as their pre-facelift predecessors (no hope for a manual unfortunately). The purely-petrol variants will continue with a 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder and CVT pairing that outputs 182 PS and 240 Nm of torque, while the e:HEV will feature a self-charging hybrid system consisting of a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, which sends 184 PS and 315 Nm to the front wheels via an e-CVT.

Since the introduction of the 11th generation in 2022, over 28,000 units of the Civic have been sold in Malaysia. It currently remains the top choice in the non-national C-segment for an impressive eight consecutive years since 2016, holding a commanding 70% market share as of October 2024.

Commenting on the New Civic, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia said, “The Civic is a symbol of Honda’s commitment to innovation and driving pleasure. With the introduction of this new model, we aim to further strengthen our presence in the market by delivering a vehicle that combines advanced features, dynamic performance, and sleek design, delivering a complete package of holistic experience that transforms the way we drive today.”
