Hennessey VelociRaptoR 6×6 Is A 6-Wheeled Pickup With 700 HP

Hennessey has an answer for those who think their Ford Raptor R just isn’t big and beastly enough as it is.

Coming right from their RAM-based Mammoth 6X6 TRX and Chevrolet-based Goliath 6X6 Silverado, Texas-based tuner Hennessey has recently rounded off their efforts in adding another two wheels on the top-tier American Big Three pickup truck lineup by announcing that it has since begun full production of its VelociRaptoR 6×6.

Based upon a third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor R, an extended boxed frame and a second, fully functional, locking rear axle has since been grafted on by Hennessey in creating the VelociRaptoR 6×6. The American tuner had also extended the truck bed from its original 5.5 foot (1.67 m) to its current 8-foot length (2.4 m) when performing this conversion, which has in turn increased the total length of this super truck to a staggering 27-feet (8.23 m) end-to-end.

It is not just the length too that Hennessey has increased with the addition of an extra axle, as this conversion also added a three-inch lift with trick Live Valve Fox dampers and custom 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 37-inch off-road tires. All of which has bumped the overall height of this VelociRaptoR 6×6 to a just slightly over the typical indoor carpark limit of 7 feet (2.1 m).

Expectedly so as well is that with the addition of an extra axle, the VelociRaptoR 6×6 is a hefty behemoth at approximately 6,500 pounds (2,950 kg). What is rather unexpected though is for famed power-mad tuner Hennessey to have only added a slightly fruitier exhaust to the stock supercharged Ford 5.2-litre V8, and left the rest pretty much stock such that it produces only the usual 700 hp and 640 lb-ft torque (870 Nm) from the factory.

Though there is perhaps a good reason for this, as the new VelociRaptoR 6X6 may actually be ordered through authorised Ford retailers. Hennessey is also currently offering this super truck with a comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty too, which probably has incentivised it to keep the power output slightly more manageable level to prevent an overabundance of claims.

In any case, complementing the mechanical upgrades are new front and rear bumpers, LED off-road lights, and Hennessey VelociRaptoR badging. For customers seeking a more practical truck than this 6×6 behemoth too, Hennessey also is promoting a suite of performance and off-road-oriented upgrades for the regular Ford Raptor 4X4.

The Texas-based tuner currently prides itself as being the world’s largest producer of modified Ford F-150 Raptors, and claims to be the industry benchmark for Ford Raptor upgrades since the truck was first introduced back in 2009. It has also built thousands of high-performance VelociRaptor trucks for customers around the globe, and its colossal 6X6 remains one of its most astounding builds.

John Hennessey, company founder and CEO: “The F-150 Raptor R is competent right from the factory, but our 6X6 upgrade improves it dramatically. It gains significantly more traction thanks to 50 percent more driven wheels. The 8-foot bed adds a truck-load of increased utility, and the combination of three axles, a body lift, and a roaring V8 delivers unmatched stage presence!”
