GoCar Now Offers Street Parking Drop-Off In PJ And Subang

The GoCar One-Way Trip feature is now made even more convenient with added street-side drop-off locations.

GoCar has recently made the idea of car-sharing even easier now, especially for users around the Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya Area. That is because GoCar’s recently rebranded One-Way Trip feature now allows users to drop off their GoCar at any street-side parking space once finished with the car.

Partnering with Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) and Flexi Parking (FP), users who select the One-Way Trip feature during their GoCar booking are now able to return their cars at legal street parking spot. Once done with their rental, all one has to do is find a parking space on the street and check out. There is no need to pay for street parking upon checking out too, as the street parking charge is covered by GoCar.

On the topic of money, the rates for this newly rebranded One-Way Trip feature start at RM 0.99 for the base rate, with an additional RM 0.17 – RM 0.25 for every additional minute of usage. Petrol costs however are not included within the rental rate.

The cars available with this feature are the Nissan Almera and the Renault Captur. As with any GoCar rental and as the rental is time-based, milage is unlimited.

This new One-Way Trip feature already offers greater freedom and flexibility to the idea of car-sharing. No longer does one need to worry about the set time and set drop-off location when taking car-sharing, now instead you can do with it what you want with the car and return it when you are done with it.

Moreover, being able to just drop the car off at any street parking space and walk away just adds further convenience to whole car-sharing process. Saying that, this street-parking feature is only currently available in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, with it to be rolled out to more locations in the future.

PRESS RELEASE: GoCar Malaysia is transforming the way city-dwellers experience transportation through its new partnership with Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) and Flexi Parking™ (FP).

Through this collaboration and its other innovative features, GoCar offers smart solutions for traffic and parking congestion, while reducing carbon emissions. Studies show that KL-ites spend 53 minutes stuck in traffic jams and 25 minutes looking for parking daily. GoCar believes that with the power of technology, this growing urban traffic issue can be changed.

Partnering with SSP and FP is in line with GoCar’s ultimate vision of making cities smarter and reducing car ownership. As an on-demand car-sharing platform, GoCar decreases the number of cars fighting for space on roads – and now in street parking lots, too. As a bonus, the entire experience from booking and payment to parking is done through a mobile app. This makes it contactless and safe, giving peace of mind in these uncertain times.

Starting 23 November 2020, users will be able to utilise GoCar’s One-Way Trip feature (previously known as Free-Floating) and park at public parking lots without worrying about payment. One-Way Trip is a 24/7 service that enables users to book cars with more flexibility and control, paying only when needed and choosing their preferred drop off location later on. Now, alongside SSP and FP, One-Way Trip gives users even more location options to drop off their GoCars.

According to Ham Yon Han from GoCar, “We’re glad to be partnering with SSP and FP to enable GoCars to be parked at all street parking lots within Selangor. This makes it much easier for our users to get nearer to their destinations and drop off the cars at their convenience. This will help bring us closer to seamless urban mobility.

“While the feature is currently available in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, we’re aiming to make other areas available by the end of the year. So do stay tuned as we strive to make cities smarter,” he explained.

Lai Thiam Sin, Chief Executive Officer of LiTS said, “Our 3 main objectives are to deliver better efficiency, accuracy and environmental friendliness to the public. Our partnership with GoCar aligns perfectly with these objectives. We look forward to enhancing this collaboration further to encourage the use of car-sharing technologies, powered by SSP and FP.”

To enable the new street parking feature, users simply need to ensure their GoCar app is updated to the latest version (v4.2 onwards), book a One-Way Trip in the app, select a pickup place and drop it off at any available location.
