Proton e.MAS Holds More Than 60% of Malaysia’s EV Market

Proton e.MAS continues to lead Malaysia’s EV market, with the brand accounting for more than 60% of domestic EV registrations in 2026. From January to August, with 27,403 recorded domestic registrations.

The Proton e.MAS 5 remains the leading model in the EV segment, while the Proton e.MAS 7 is the No. 1 EV SUV and also continues to lead the PHEV segment.

The brand also passed 6,000 registrations in a single month for the first time in August. Including domestic and export registrations, Proton e.MAS recorded 27,856 units year-to-date, made up of 18,014 e.MAS 5 units and 4,278 e.MAS 7 units. The e.MAS 7 PHEV added another 5,562 domestic registrations.

Together, the models give Proton e.MAS a 32.5% share of Malaysia’s overall xEV market. Based on domestic EV registrations, the brand holds around 60% of the market.

Expanding the e.MAS Ecosystem

PRO-NET is also expanding the support network for owners as more vehicles are added to Malaysian roads.

The brand now has 60 dealerships, 46 authorised service centres and 10 Body & Paint facilities nationwide. Customers can also access more than 4,700 charging points through the Integrated Live Charging Map in the vehicles and the Proton e.MAS App, covering more than 90% of Malaysia’s public charging infrastructure.

For customers living in high-rise residences, Proton e.MAS has partnerships with ChargeSini, JomCharge, Charge+, Time Charge N Go and RExharge. These provide a special rate of RM0.63/kWh until 31 December 2026 at more than 1,500 charging points across over 500 participating residences.

More Local EV Capabilities

All models and variants are now locally assembled at PROTON’s EV plant in the Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV), Tanjong Malim.

PRO-NET is also working on local EV training. In August, 37 technicians from 25 authorised dealerships received Level 2 EV certification from TVETMARA.

Training also continues through the e.MAS Certified Technician Programme and e.MAS Certified Service Advisor Programme. The first e.MAS Electrified Excellence Competition was also held, involving technicians and service advisors from 45 dealerships.

Parts availability is another focus, with 98.8% of common spare parts available across the authorised network.

With more EVs on Malaysian roads, Proton e.MAS is continuing to expand its charging, service and training network. These efforts also support Malaysia’s wider electrification plans under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB).
