MG Launches New MG4X Electric SUV in China

Compact EV SUV Combines Advanced Connectivity, Intelligent Driving Technology, and Up to 64.2kWh Battery Capacity

MG has officially launched the all-new MG4X electric SUV in China, expanding its growing electric vehicle portfolio with a compact SUV designed to combine advanced technology, practicality, and everyday usability.

The new MG4X is offered with a manufacturer-suggested retail price (MSRP) ranging from RMB99,800 to RMB116,800, while promotional launch pricing starts from RMB92,800 and extends to RMB109,800.

Built on SAIC Motor’s Nebula pure-electric architecture, the MG4X inherits the design language of the MG4 hatchback while introducing a more SUV-focused silhouette. Exterior highlights include a new full-width LED light bar that enhances its modern and distinctive appearance.

Compact SUV Dimensions with Practical Packaging

Positioned within the compact SUV segment, the MG4X measures:

  • 4,500 mm in length
  • 1,849 mm in width
  • 1,621 mm (or 1,627 mm) in height
  • 2,735 mm wheelbase

The dimensions are designed to deliver a balance of urban manoeuvrability and interior practicality for everyday driving.

Premium Cabin with Advanced Connectivity

Inside, the MG4X adopts an enveloping cabin design focused on comfort and technology. Approximately 86% of interior surfaces are finished in soft-touch materials, creating a more premium ambience.

The interior also features:

  • Flat-bottom dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel
  • Electronic shift-by-wire gear selector
  • 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster (standard)
  • 15.6-inch floating central infotainment display

The infotainment system integrates the Doubao large-model ecosystem and supports four-zone voice interaction, allowing occupants to control various vehicle functions through voice commands.

Connectivity features include:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Huawei HiCar
  • Carlink smartphone integration

Intelligent Driving Technology

The MG4X is available with multiple levels of driver assistance technology depending on variant.

The Freedom variant is equipped with:

  • Horizon Robotics Journey J3 processor
  • Five cameras
  • Eight ultrasonic sensors
  • L2-level Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

Meanwhile, the higher-spec Smart Enjoy variant upgrades to:

  • Horizon Robotics Journey J6E processor
  • Six cameras
  • Twelve ultrasonic sensors
  • Three millimetre-wave radars

With a total of 21 sensors, the Smart Enjoy variant supports enhanced L2+ driver assistance capabilities, offering greater situational awareness and driving support.

Rear-Wheel Drive Electric Performance

The MG4X is offered with two rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain options.

Customers can choose between:

  • 150kW electric motor paired with a 64.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery
  • 125kW electric motor paired with a 53.9kWh manganese-based semi-solid-state lithium-ion battery

The introduction of a semi-solid-state battery technology highlights MG’s continued exploration of next-generation EV solutions aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and energy density.

With the launch of the MG4X, MG continues to strengthen its electric vehicle line-up by offering customers a compact electric SUV that combines modern styling, advanced connectivity, intelligent driving technologies, and practical everyday usability within an increasingly competitive EV market.
