Chery Group clarifies details of cooperation with India's JSW

Chery Group recently issued a statement to clarify the cooperation with India’s JSW Group. Earlier reports said that Chery will provide technology and components to JSW to help it launch a new energy vehicle brand in India.

Chery said that the cooperation between the two parties is limited to the supply of parts and does not involve the technical field. JSW also denied the claim of technology transfer and said it would independently develop core technologies.

Chery Group has clarified that its collaboration with India’s JSW Group is limited to parts supply and does not involve any technology transfer. This clarification comes in response to reports suggesting a broader partnership including the sharing of electric vehicle (EV) technology. Chery emphasized that JSW will independently own and operate the new EV brand, while Chery will supply components.

Did you know that the partnership focuses solely on Chery supplying parts and components to JSW for their new EV brand.

Meanwhile, Chery has explicitly stated that there is no transfer of EV technology or intellectual property involved in the collaboration.

Right now, JSW will own and operate the new EV brand, and it will not be a joint venture with Chery.

Interestingly, Chery will provide components such as advanced electric powertrains, hybrid systems, and intelligent cockpit technology.

JSW will leverage these components and also develop core technologies in-house with the help of other companies.

JSW will manufacture the vehicles under its own brand in India, with plans to start with trucks and buses in early 2026, followed by passenger cars in the first half of 2027.
