BYD has reported that the cumulative number of its vehicles equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) surpassed 3.72 million units as of August 31, 2026.
The figure includes 201,533 ADAS-equipped vehicles sold in August alone. BYD’s definition of ADAS-equipped models covers vehicles fitted with either its own God’s Eye system or Huawei’s Qiankun Smart Driving system.
According to BYD, its God’s Eye ADAS system now generates more than 230 million kilometres of driving data every day. The company has been using data collected from its growing fleet to develop and improve its driver-assistance technology.
BYD also reported strong vehicle sales during August. The company sold 433,000 passenger vehicles during the month, compared with 372,000 units during the same period last year.
Pure electric passenger vehicles accounted for 256,230 units of the August total, while plug-in hybrid passenger vehicle sales reached 177,154 units. BYD reported total vehicle sales of 440,293 units for the month.
From January to August 2026, BYD recorded cumulative vehicle sales of 2,668,015 units. Within that figure, the Dynasty and Ocean series accounted for 375,373 units, while Fangchengbao recorded 41,568 units.
Denza contributed 16,001 units during the first eight months of the year, while Yangwang recorded 442 units.
The growing number of vehicles using ADAS gives BYD a large amount of real-world driving data, which the company says is important for improving its intelligent driving systems.
On August 19, 2026, Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD’s Ocean Network, said the data accumulated from millions of vehicles has played an important role in improving the user experience of God’s Eye B during 2026.
He also said that China’s intelligent driving industry is moving towards end-to-end architectures. As more automakers adopt similar approaches, the differences in intelligent driving capabilities between manufacturers could gradually become smaller.
With more than 3.72 million vehicles now equipped with the relevant systems, BYD continues to expand the number of cars collecting real-world driving data for its ADAS technology.
The figures also highlight how quickly driver-assistance technology is becoming part of BYD’s wider vehicle lineup, covering both electric and plug-in hybrid models across several of its brands.
