BMW Group Malaysia Now #1 Premium EV Provider In Malaysia

Over 1,600 BMW, MINI and Motorrad EVs have found new owners in Malaysia in just the past 8 months.

While there are speculations that the new wave of Chinese automakers and Tesla with the EVs are to be chomping into the market share of the legacy marques over here, this prophesied decline in deliveries hasn’t seem to have taken effect just yet. That is especially as BMW Group Malaysia has recently announced that it has sold over 1,600 units of BMW, MINI and Motorrad EVs in just the past 8 months of 2023, which was more than what they have delivered over the whole of last year.

BMW Group Malaysia further touts that with its current EV deliveries to date, it has since also taken the lead as the number one premium EV provider locally. A title that certainly complements their existing status as the number one premium automaker in Malaysia, which they would like to remind everyone has been with them for the last three years already too.

Far from resting on its laurels though, the German automaker has also in conjunction with this sales achievement reaffirmed its strategic partnership with Gentari to kick-start its new ChargeGo service. A mobile EV charging service that can provide on-the-go DC fast-charging, this new offering that is aimed to address potential EV adopter’s concerns regarding range and charging anxiety will apparently now be live come the end of 2023.

More pertinent however to current owners of electrified BMWs and MINIs in Malaysia is the new exclusive unlimited-charging packages offered by the German automaker, in collaboration with local charging providers, ChargEV, alongside JomCharge & Gentari. From 1st October to 31st December 2023, the first 200 BMW and MINI EV owners who register for these packages can purchase the package for RM 2,400 and RM 1,800 respectively from any of the aforementioned charging providers. The package provides unlimited charging at all the ChargEV or JomCharge & Gentari facilities nationwide for 12 months upon activation, but do note that it is only valid for use by the specific vehicle that was registered during sign-up.

PRESS RELEASE: BMW Group Malaysia today unveiled an electrifying achievement, taking lead as the Number One Premium EV provider in Malaysia with over 1,600 units in BMW, MINI & BMW Motorrad EV delivered in just eight months this year. This far surpasses the total of 1,557 units of BMW & MINI EV delivered by the premium automaker in 2022. While this remarkable milestone reflects the BMW Group Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure, it also further cements their status as the Number One Premium Automaker in Malaysia for the last three years.

Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “At the heart of our vision for an Electric Future lies a profound commitment to electrification that seeks to reshape the future of mobility, where sustainability, luxury and innovation converge. In an era marked by the imperative to transform, we are thrilled to lead the charge in Malaysia’s electrification journey – bolstered by the support of our loyal customers, dealers, and partners alike. This achievement commemorates our lead, not just in the premium EV segment but also the overall EV ecosystem in the country.”

Revolutionising Charging Accessibility with Gentari’s Charge Go.

To truly catalyse the transition to Electrified Mobility, BMW Group Malaysia recognises the need to address the most pressing concern shared by many potential EV owners in Malaysia: range and charging anxiety. To this end, the premium automaker expands their strategic partnership with Gentari, a clean energy solutions provider via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, to make EV charging more accessible and convenient for all. Building upon Gentari’s success in establishing widespread EV charging infrastructure nationwide over the past year, the two organisations are now bringing Charge Go to life — a trailblazing mobile EV charging service that can provide on-the-go DC fast-charging.

De Visser emphasized, “We are thrilled to bring our mobile charging vehicle concept – one that we unveiled earlier this year, to life with Gentari. Our partnerships with key players like them underscore our belief that industry-wide collaboration is the engine driving the transformation towards an Electric Future. We hope to inspire more players in this field to elevate their commitment to electrification, collectively enriching the local EV ecosystem. This collaboration will be made available towards end of 2023.”

Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd said, “The launch of Charge Go with BMW is another innovative solution that exemplifies Gentari’s customer-centricity. This mobile charging solution is a product of the collective effort amongst local industry players, including SMEs, to strengthen the local EV ecosystem in coming up with our very own and locally designed solution in this space.  This solution, the first of many to come from Gentari, aims to bolster range confidence, making the transition to EVs an easy one.”

Exclusive Unlimited-Charging Package by ChargEV, as well as JomCharge & Gentari.

In celebration of their success, BMW Group Malaysia is also collaborating with local charging providers, ChargEV, alongside JomCharge & Gentari to offer exclusive unlimited-charging packages for BMW and MINI EV owners in Malaysia. From 1st October to 31st December 2023, the first 200 registrants of BMW and MINI EV owners can purchase the package for RM2,400 and RM1,800 respectively from any of the aforementioned charging providers. The package provides unlimited charging at all ChargEV or JomCharge & Gentari facilities nationwide for 12 months upon activation and is only valid for use by the specific EV that was registered during sign-up.

Through BMW Group Malaysia’s strategic partnerships with key local charging solution providers, as well as their network of authorised dealers and partnering venues across the country, the premium automaker has made over 1,000 charging facilities available to EV owners in Malaysia.
