XPeng Mona L05 Launches in China From RM82,000 With Up to 635km Range

XPeng has launched the Mona L05 in China, a five-seat mid-size SUV available with fully electric and range-extender powertrains. Prices start at RMB139,800 (approximately RM82,000) following launch discounts.

The L05 is available in six variants, with launch prices ranging from RMB139,800 to RMB171,800 (approximately RM82,000 to RM101,000). These prices include a RMB5,000 discount for orders placed by 15 December 2026.

The SUV was unveiled at a Mona World owners’ event in Guangzhou on 29 October. XPeng says 5,000 units have already been built, with customer deliveries starting on 1 November. Global shipments began on 26 October.

The Mona L05 is the brand’s third Mona model, positioned above the smaller L03. It measures 4,870mm long, 1,930mm wide and 1,636mm tall, with a 2,940mm wheelbase.

Its exterior features a sloping roofline and frameless doors. Boot capacity stands at 702 litres, increasing to 1,913 litres with the rear seats folded. Electric variants also receive a 102-litre front boot.

Electric and Range-Extender Powertrains

All variants use a rear-mounted electric motor producing 183kW and 280Nm.

The fully electric versions come with either a 58.2kWh or 71.1kWh LFP battery. The smaller battery delivers up to 560km of CLTC range in the 560 Plus variant. The 535 Max offers 535km, while the larger battery provides up to 635km in the 635 variants.

XPeng claims a 30% to 80% charging time of 15.8 minutes. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h takes 7.3 seconds with the smaller battery and 6.8 seconds with the larger pack.

The range-extender versions use a 37.2kWh battery, providing 310km of CLTC electric range. Combined with a full 42-litre fuel tank, the claimed total range reaches 1,310km. Charging from 30% to 80% takes 10.1 minutes, while fuel consumption is rated at 5.26 litres per 100km with the battery depleted.

Advanced Driver Assistance and Interior Technology

The higher-spec Ultra SE variants receive two XPeng Turing chips, delivering a combined effective computing power of 1,500 TOPS. These run the company’s second-generation VLA driver assistance system.

The Max variants use one Turing chip and a VLA 2.0 Lite system. XPeng claims the simplified version retains more than 90% of the full system’s capabilities.

One safety function can detect when a driver becomes incapacitated during assisted highway driving. The vehicle can then pull over, activate an alarm and send a distress message to nearby XPeng vehicles within 1km.

Inside, the L05 features a 17.3-inch central display and a 26.8-inch head-up display. It also introduces XPeng’s Master Agent AI assistant, which can plan trips and respond to less specific navigation requests.

Other equipment includes a massaging zero-gravity front passenger seat and electrically reclining rear seats.

XPeng developed left- and right-hand-drive versions simultaneously. The company plans to introduce the L05 in 65 countries and regions, with Europe scheduled to receive the model in 2027. Its testing programme involved 660 vehicles covering more than five million kilometres across 25 countries.
