PROTON Highlights Saga and S70 Maintenance Costs, Aftersales Support

PROTON is highlighting the scheduled maintenance costs of the All-New Saga and S70 as part of its efforts to improve vehicle ownership value. The company is also investing in service facilities, parts distribution and workshop efficiency.

A study by PROTON’s After Sales team compares scheduled maintenance costs over five and ten years. It covers labour charges, prescribed replacements and applicable taxes, based on 100,000 km over five years and 200,000 km over ten years.

S70 Offers Competitive Maintenance Costs

The naturally aspirated Proton S70 has an estimated five-year scheduled maintenance cost of RM4,010.59. This is around RM1,591 less than one non-national B-segment competitor and RM433 less than another recently launched rival.

Over ten years, its estimated maintenance cost reaches RM9,070.09. This represents savings of approximately RM2,191 and RM1,252 against the two competitors.

The turbocharged S70 also records competitive servicing costs. Its estimated five-year maintenance cost is around RM1,076 lower than one rival, while costing RM83 more than the other.

Over ten years, the turbocharged S70 is estimated to cost around RM1,575 and RM629 less to maintain than the two benchmark vehicles. Six complimentary labour services also help reduce servicing expenses under the study’s assessed provisions.

All-New Saga Keeps Servicing Costs Manageable

The All-New Saga has estimated five-year scheduled maintenance costs starting from approximately RM3,357.

Both the four-speed automatic and CVT versions record lower five-year costs than the national-brand benchmark used in the study. The respective savings are approximately RM174 and RM64.

The Saga also includes three complimentary labour services to reduce servicing expenses during the early years of ownership. These costs may be relevant to first-time buyers and families comparing long-term vehicle expenses.

However, complimentary labour does not cover every servicing expense. Owners must still pay for parts, lubricants and other applicable items.

Expanded Aftersales Network and Parts Supply

PROTON is also expanding its aftersales support to improve service access and parts availability. Its Regional Parts Centres in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu help distribute components across East Malaysia.

As of June 2026, PROTON had 178 integrated 3S and 4S facilities. These outlets combine sales, servicing and spare parts, while 4S centres also provide Body and Paint services.

The company’s Faster & Better initiative focuses on three service targets: FS90 Fast Service, one-day service delivery and a maximum three-day work-in-progress target. These measures aim to improve workshop efficiency and reduce customer waiting times.

Together, the maintenance cost comparisons and aftersales investments address two key aspects of ownership: routine expenses and access to servicing.
