Leapmotor B05 Launched In Europe With Up To 482km Range

Leapmotor has launched its new B05 electric hatchback in Europe, with the model offering up to 482 km of WLTP range. The B05 is positioned as a sporty EV, combining a more dynamic design with everyday practicality and technology.

The B05 starts from €26,900 in Europe, giving it a relatively competitive entry price for an electric model in its segment.

The B05 is designed around a wide-body shape with a 1,880 mm shoulder width. It also gets frameless doors, hidden door handles, blade-style lighting and 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. The car has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.26, which helps with its overall efficiency.

Inside, the cabin focuses on everyday comfort, with features including eco-leather upholstery, a panoramic skylight, heated seats and various storage areas. The cabin also uses a dual-screen setup, with a 14.6-inch infotainment display and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

The B05 was co-developed with Stellantis’ global chassis team and has been tuned with European driving conditions in mind. It uses a rear-wheel-drive layout with a 50:50 weight distribution, along with McPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.

Power comes from an electric motor producing up to 218 hp (160 kW) and 240 Nm of torque. Leapmotor claims the B05 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while a dedicated Launch Control mode is also available.

The EV uses a Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) battery design, where the battery is integrated directly into the vehicle structure. According to Leapmotor, this helps reduce weight, improve efficiency and increase structural rigidity while also creating more interior space.

Two battery options are available. The 56.2 kWh battery provides up to 401 km of WLTP range, while the larger 67.1 kWh unit increases the range to up to 482 km.

Charging from 30% to 80% takes around 17 minutes using the vehicle’s fast-charging system, making it more practical for longer journeys.

The B05 also comes with connected features through the Leapmotor App. Owners can remotely control functions such as the climate system, schedule charging, check vehicle status and use the digital key function.

Safety equipment includes 21 ADAS functions supported by 14 sensors and cameras, along with seven airbags. The car also uses a high-strength body structure with a claimed torsional stiffness of 34,500 Nm/°.

With its rear-wheel-drive setup, relatively quick acceleration and up to 482 km of range, the B05 is aimed at buyers looking for a more sporty-looking electric hatchback without giving up everyday usability.
