BYD enters the certified pre-owned market with the launch of its own BYD Certified programme.
While it may seem like just yesterday, it is nevertheless true that BYD has been around in Malaysia for over three years now. And with the earliest examples of its EVs now beginning to enter the used car market, the Chinese automaker has now launched its own certified pre-owned programme.
Dubbed BYD Certified, the programme follows much the same formula as other manufacturer-backed certified pre-owned schemes already available locally. Its introduction also sees the opening of the first BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region, located at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie.
Naturally for a CPO programme, BYD Certified promises added peace of mind through a comprehensive vehicle inspection, verified battery health assessment, warranty coverage, financing options and aftersales support. BYD says the initiative is aimed at delivering greater transparency and confidence for those looking to purchase a used EV.
To qualify for certification, every vehicle must satisfy five key assurance criteria:
- 170-point professional inspection.
- Less than 100,000 km on the odometer.
- Vehicle age not exceeding four years, with mileage limits based on age.
- Verified clean history with no major accidents, flood damage, fire damage or odometer tampering.
- Repairs and refurbishment carried out using genuine BYD parts and approved repair standards.
Beyond the certification itself, buyers will also receive several additional ownership benefits. Among these is a five-day buy-back guarantee should any previously undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage be discovered after delivery. Owners will also enjoy nationwide warranty and servicing support through BYD’s authorised 3S dealer network, while existing BYD customers can make use of the programme’s dedicated trade-in platform.
Customers can now visit the BYD Certified showroom at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie, which offers vehicle sales, trade-in services, financing, warranty support and aftersales care under one roof. Financing rates start from as low as 2.03%, with selected certified pre-owned BYD models available subject to stock. A launch weekend showroom event will also be held from 24 to 26 July 2026.
