The Order Books For Proton’s Newly-Facelifted X50 Is Now Open

The first 10,000 to put their name down for this updated X50 will be treated to some exclusive early bird perks.

Following its official preview last week, Proton has now officially opened the order books for the facelifted X50. And to tempt eager buyers, the national carmaker is rolling out the READY TO ROAR Package — a limited-time promotion reserved for the first wave of customers.

From 5th July 2025 until the official launch date, the first 10,000 customers who book and register their newly facelifted X50 will receive:

  • A RM 1,000 cash rebate
  • A special edition Touch ‘n Go card
  • And an exclusive GEMPAK! deal, with full details to be revealed during the official launch ceremony

This early booking offer is available both online via Proton’s official website and at selected Proton showrooms nationwide.

To further generate buzz, Proton is also kicking off its nationwide Roar of Amazement Tour this weekend. This roadshow aims to bring the facelifted X50 closer to the rakyat, with stops around the country offering a chance for Malaysians to see the car up close, meet local influencers, participate in fun interactive activities, and win exclusive prizes through lucky draws.

Now onto the car itself, the most significant change to the facelifted X50 lies under its bonnet. For the first time, Proton’s best-selling compact SUV gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, replacing the previous three-cylinder setup. This new powerplant produces 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, still paired with the familiar 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The addition of an extra cylinder not only smooths out performance but also drops the 0–100 km/h sprint time to just 7.6 seconds, shaving 0.3 seconds off the outgoing flagship model’s time. Fuel efficiency has also been claimed to see an improvement of nearly 5% from what came before, thanks to tweaks in both engine tuning and aerodynamics.

Exterior enhancements on this facelifted X50 meanwhile are equally noticeable, with it now to sport a gaping new grille flanked by slimmer LED reflector headlights. Around the rear, slimmer taillights are now connected by a full-width LED light bar, while the flagship variant further ups the drama with a prominent roof spoiler.

Inside, the X50’s cabin has been comprehensively reworked. Dominating the dashboard is a class-leading 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen, which finally supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right out of the box. Ahead of the driver sits a new 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, complemented by a frameless rear-view mirror, tinted transparent sun visors, and a new column-mounted gear selector integrated into the right-hand steering stalk.

Finally, Proton’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems has also been upgraded, and now comes with rear-side radar sensors for enhanced blind spot and cross traffic alerts. The facelift further debuts a world-first Bahasa Melayu voice recognition system, aimed at making in-car commands more intuitive for local users.

The updated X50 will be offered in Executive, Premium, and Flagship trims. While final pricing has yet to be announced, early estimates suggest a price range between RM 90,000 and RM 125,000.
