The First 200 Denza D9 E-MPVs Have Been Delivered In Malaysia

Denza had also previously proclaimed that it received over 800 orders for the D9 already.

If you’ve been noticing more Denza D9s on the road from today, there’s a good reason for it. Such is as the first 200 units of this premium all-electric MPV have just been delivered to customers in Malaysia, in a mass handover event that took place at the ‘DENZA and BYD Electrifying Experience’ exhibition last weekend at Plaza Arkadia, Desa ParkCity.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd, hailed the milestone, stating, “The delivery of our first 200 units of the DENZA D9 marks an exciting milestone for DENZA in Malaysia. This overwhelming response reflects the growing demand for premium electric mobility and reaffirms our dedication to innovation, craftsmanship, and customer experience. We are committed to shaping the future of high-end EVs and look forward to delivering even more exceptional vehicles to our customers in Malaysia.”

The Denza D9 previously made its Malaysian debut just three weeks ago, and since then, the automaker has touted that the order books for this premium people mover already surpassed 800 units. This all-electric MPV is currently available in two variants: Advanced FWD (RM 259,000) and Premium AWD (RM 309,000).

Under the hood — so to speak — the Advanced FWD variant is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 230 kW and 360 Nm of torque, achieving the 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.5 seconds. The Premium AWD version in turn adds a rear motor, boosting combined output to 270 kW and 470 Nm, which cuts the century sprint time down to 6.9 seconds.

Both versions of the D9 come equipped with a substantial 103.6 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The WLTP-rated range stands at 520 km for the FWD and 480 km for the AWD variant. Maximum charging input for this all-electric people mover is 166 kW DC (for a claimed 30% to 80% top up in 30 minutes or an additional 150 km of range in 10 minutes), and only 11 kW when connected to an AC supply.

On the topic of size, the Denza D9 is a naturally a behemoth, measuring 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. That makes it slightly larger than the already-massive Toyota Alphard/Vellfire twins—41 mm longer, 72 mm taller, and boasting an additional 110 mm in wheelbase. Denza claims the D9 offers a “7+7+7” carrying capacity—seven passengers, seven suitcases, and seven carry-ons.

And all that space is frankly required to house the long list of features that have been packed into this Denza. Among the more impressive of which includes 4-way power adjustable centre seat with memory, massage, ventilation and power-adjustable leg rests, FSD variable damping suspension (with DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control in the Premium AWD variant), a tri-zone climate control system with PM2.5 air cleaning and a negative ion purifier, 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system as well as a centre console refrigerator.

The first 800 customers who previously placed an order for this electric MPV received a complimentary 22 kW wallbox (including installation), six years/120,000 km of free servicing, an exclusive Denza neck and waist pillow, and a custom Denza luggage set. Those purchasing a Denza D9 by March 16 will still be entitled to the free wallbox with installation and the six-year free service package.

Warranty coverage with the D9 includes six years/150,000 km for the vehicle, eight years/160,000 km for the battery, and eight years/150,000 km for the drive motor and motor controller. Though the more interesting thing regarding the available warranty is for its geographical coverage to extend beyond a single country’s borders, as Denza is currently touting a Malaysia-Singapore-Thailand cross-border aftersales warranty programme.
