The MG ZS EV e-SUV Can Now Be Yours For Only RM 99,999
This is made possible by MG Malaysia currently footing the bill for 20 months worth of instalments.
MG Malaysia has recently announced its year-end promos, and the big news regarding here is that one can now have its ZS EV all-electric B-segment crossover for only five figures!
Yes, with MG currently willing to foot the bill for 20 months of instalments (worth up to RM 26,000) on the ZS EV, this all-electric small SUV is effectively to now be priced at only RM 99,999. Or to put it in a more headline-baiting sense, this BYD Atto 3 alternative is to be one of the cheapest EVs in Malaysia right now.
For those who might prefer the a slightly smaller EV instead meanwhile, the Sino-British automaker has since also announced that it will be helping to pay a portion of the instalments for its MG4 too. The Lux variant of this Golf-sized all-electric hatchback is currently entitled to 12 months of free instalments valued at up to RM 16,000, for an effective retail price of RM 112,999; while those opting for the Standard spec will instead net 8 months worth of free instalments values at up to RM 8,500, which hence brings its effective retail price down to a very tempting RM 95,499.
Both the MG ZS EV and MG4 previously made their local debut only earlier this year, with both serving as the premiere models for the once-British marque’s re-entry into the local market under its new Chinese owners. This has since been joined by the MG5 revealed a couple of weeks back, which is a petrol-powered B-segment sedan serving as the automaker’s oversized challenger to Honda’s City and Toyota’s Vios.
Talking specs now and starting with the MG ZS EV, propulsion for this e-SUV comes courtesy of a front-mounted motor that outputs 130 kW (176 PS) and 280 Nm of torque. This in turn translates to a reasonably decent (for an SUV at least) century sprint time of 8 seconds, before eventually running out of puff at 175 km/h.
As for what powers its motor meanwhile, the Malaysian-spec MG ZS nets the sole option of a 51.1 kWh lithium ion battery pack, which MG claims is good for a WLTP-rated range of 320 km. This particular pack accepts AC charging of up to 7 kW for an 8-hour full charge, in addition to up to 50 kW DC CCS charging, that sees for a 10-80% top up taking 54 minutes.
On the kit front, the ZS EV packs within it 7-inch digital multi-information display and 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration), a wireless charging pad and a rotary gear selector. This now sub-RM 100,000 all-electric crossover further features a class-leading panoramic glass roof that measures 870 mm x 1,365 mm, as well as the MG Pilot ADAS suite that encompasses Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), 360º surround view camera among others…
The local MG4 range on the other hand consists of three regular flavours: the Standard (RM 103,999), the Lux (RM 128,999) and the Lux Extended (RM 148,999). At the top of the tree then lies the spicy hot XPower variant, which brings with it two motors and 435 PS of power for RM 158,999.
All electric MGs are to be covered by a 7-year/150,000 km mileage vehicle warranty, in addition to an 8-year/180,000 km battery warranty. Said battery is also treated to a one-to-one exchange should its state of health dip below 70% during the battery’s warranty coverage period.
