Range Rover Evoque Facelift Launched Locally From RM 498,800

This new update for the baby Range Rover adds a slightly tweaked exterior and more tech within. 

Slightly delayed even by its own timing, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has nevertheless recently ushered in the Lunar New Year in style with the local launch of the facelifted Range Rover Evoque. This mid-life update for the smallest offering in the off-road marque’s lineup brings with it a few exterior enhancements to further sharpen up its sleek silhouette, in addition to a suite of tech upgrades to complement its completely revamped cabin. 

Starting on the changes to its exterior first, the facelift has naturally brought with it a face, courtesy of sleeker redesigned grille that is bookended by a pair of revised Pixel LED headlights featuring slimmer daytime running lights, which are available for the Lux Spec. This baby Range Rover also nets a slightly tweaked rear LED light signature, with a selection of new colours choices — Corinthian Bronze, Tribeca Blue, and Arroios Grey — rounding off the Evoque’s exterior enhancements.  

Moving on within meanwhile, the Evoque has followed on from the facelifted Velar by sporting Land Rover’s new minimalistic interior design philosophy. This in turn therefore sees its prior twin-central display layout be reduced to a single larger 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen running the latest generation Pivi Pro infotainment system, with the space where once was the climate control screen filled by a storage cubby and a wireless charging pad instead. Other smaller updates to the cabin of this refreshed Evoque meanwhile comes in the form of a redesigned gear lever, Moonlight Chrome accents and the availability of its Cabin Air Purification Plus system.

As per its pre-facelift predecessor, the updated Evoque lands locally with three trim levels powered by a pair of engine options. The base P200 Dynamic SE (M Spec) comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-pot engine that, as its designation, suggests outputs 200 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, this particular powertrain combination has been quoted to complete the century sprint in a reasonably quick 8.6 seconds. 

Stepping up to the mid-tier P250 Dynamic SE (H Spec) or the top-end P250 Dynamic HSE (Lux Spec) however slashes the 0-100km/h time to a more-than-decent 7.6 seconds. This increase in accelerative performance comes courtesy the same powertrain combo as its lower end counterpart being tweaked to now produce 249 PS and 365 Nm of torque. 

In terms of kit now, standard to the base P200 Dynamic SE (M Spec) variant are Flush Deployable Door Handles 20-inch alloys on the outside, with its interior featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and 11-speaker, 400 W Meridian sound system to complement its Ebony leather upholstery and dark anodised accents. 

Stepping up to the mid-tier P250 Dynamic SE (H Spec) adds among other things a 360-degree camera system with a 3D function and a ClearSight digital rear-view mirror, while the top-tier P250 Dynamic HSE (Lux Spec) is the only trim offered locally with the aforementioned restyled Pixel LED matrix headlights, 21-inch alloys, a full-length panoramic glass roof, adaptive suspension and a heads-up display.

Prices for the facelifted Range Rover Evoque starts from RM498,800 Dynamic SE (M Spec), with the Dynamic SE (H Spec) and Dynamic HSE (Lux Spec) costing RM529,800 and RM565,800 respectively. JLRM has highlighted too that further personalisation for these premium SUVs are to be available, though expectedly at an added cost of course.
