Volvo Reenters Sarawak With New 2S Centre In Kuching

The new 2S facility in Kuching marks Volvo’s return to having a physical presence in Sarawak.
Volvo Car Malaysia has officially opened a new 2S (Service & Spare Parts) centre in Kuching, Sarawak, marking the Swedish automaker’s return to having a physical presence in the state after several years away. The new facility is operated by Sebangga Group, taking over the familiar automotive space along Jalan Pending and providing local Volvo owners with access to servicing and genuine spare parts.

Now for those who are not Sarawakian, this might not sound like particularly big news, but it is nevertheless a notable development for Volvo’s presence in East Malaysia. There is, however, still a rather important catch, as this is only a 2S centre for the time being, meaning those in Sarawak looking to buy a brand new Volvo will still have to travel to the other Bornean state.
That is because the only Volvo retail outlet currently operating in Malaysian Borneo is in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, although this could potentially change in the not-too-distant future. After all, Volvo does have plans to expand its retail footprint across Malaysia, with Sebangga Group itself hinting that this current facility could eventually become a complete dealership.

Funnily enough, Volvo did previously have a sales presence in Kuching, with a 3S dealership launched along Jalan Tun Jugah back in 2018. Things evidently did not work out in the intervening years, with Volvo eventually disappearing from the local retail scene before now returning to Sarawak in the form of a service-and-parts facility.
Dato’ Arif Ambrose Ng, Chairman of Sebangga Group, said the company is proud to bring its footprint into Sarawak and is focused on looking after the local Volvo community. He also said Sebangga is already looking forward to transforming the current space into a complete sales destination in the near future.

For now, the new Volvo Kuching 2S centre will primarily serve existing Volvo owners in Sarawak, allowing them to access servicing and genuine spare parts without having to travel out of state. This also marks an expansion of Sebangga Group’s partnership with Volvo Car Malaysia, which previously did not have a physical presence in Sarawak.
“Our relationship with customers is very important to us,” said Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia and Thailand. He added that the company remains committed to maintaining a robust and accessible network of service centres, while working towards establishing more complete dealerships across Malaysia.

The opening of the new Volvo Sarawak facility also comes at an interesting time for the brand, following Volvo Car Malaysia’s recent double launch of the evolved 2026 EX90 and the new EX30 Cross Country. The 2026 EX90 currently retails for RM 428,888, while the EX30 Cross Country is available from RM 198,888.
