Toyota Yaris Cross Estimated To Start From RM 99,900 In Malaysia

There will also be a hybrid version of the Yaris Cross that is supposedly set to cost RM 109,900.

For those who want a Perodua Traz with a Toyota badge instead, there will soon be the opportunity for that. Such is as the Yaris Cross is now open for booking in Malaysia, with prices apparently starting from RM 99,900.

Based on an estimated price list that has since surfaced, there will supposedly be two versions of the Yaris Cross offered locally by UMW Toyota Motor. The first is the 1.5S variant, priced at RM 99,900, while the other is the 1.5S Hybrid that tacks on another RM 10,000 to the prior figure.

Now for context, the two variants of the Traz currently retail at RM76,100 (X) and RM81,100 (H) respectively.

Toyota remains tight-lipped on the exact specifications for now, so the precise differences between it and its Perodua cousin will only be clear at launch. That said, an early brochure has revealed that available kit with the Yaris Cross will include 18-inch two-tone machined wheels, a 10.1-inch infotainment head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch TFT LCD display with digital speedometer, adaptive cruise control, adaptive high beam, and interior ambient lighting.

The Yaris Cross Hybrid further adds a wireless phone charger as standard, which is in turn a RM 550 option on the petrol variant. Both variants can also be specified with a rear-facing digital video recorder for RM 380.

Exterior colour options are shared across both variants, with five choices available: Dark Turquoise, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Spicy Scarlet SE, and Platinum Pearl White — the latter being a RM400 option.

In terms of powertrain, there is a high likelihood that the 1.5S will soldier on with the Ativa’s 2NR-VE 1.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four, producing 106 PS and 138 Nm, with drive sent to the front wheels.

The 1.5S Hybrid, meanwhile, is expected to mirror what is already offered in the Toyota Vios Hybrid, pairing a 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor in a self-charging configuration. Power is again sent to the front wheels via a CVT, with a combined system output of 111 PS.

Both variants of the Yaris Cross in Malaysia will be sold with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty, and are also available with optional service packages priced at RM2,350 for three years/60,000 km, or RM3,650 for five years/100,000 km. The hybrid variant further gets an eight-year warranty covering the battery, inverter, and power management ECU, which can be extended by an additional two years for RM2,500.
