The Omoda C9 By Jaecoo Arrives In Malaysia From RM 168,800
Its tempting price tag may just be enough to help prospective Omoda C9 buyers get over its confusing name.
While most may think Chery when hearing the name Omoda, there is soon to be another car bearing this name to be found in Jaecoo dealerships over here. Such is as the Omoda C9 by Jaecoo has just been launched over here, and confusing name lineage aside, this premium D-segment SUV is currently setting its sights to steal sales away from the likes of Honda’s CR-V and Kia’s newly-introduced Sportage.
The Omoda C9 by Jaecoo lands in Malaysia with two variants available from launch with both to incidentally be assembled right here in Shah Alam. The headline RM 168,800 price tag belongs to the 2WD trim, while the AWD spec with more bells and whistles retails over here for RM 188,800.
All Omoda C9s sold locally will come with a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty. In conjunction with the launch, Jaecoo has also further announced a special early bird package that entitles existing bookings and bookings placed up to 8th December 2024 for this SUV a 10-year/1,000,000 km extended warranty for its engine and suspension system.
Both variants of the Omoda C9 by Jaecoo are to be available in three colours: Matte Grey, Khaki White, and Carbon Crystal Black. The automaker is currently expecting initial local deliveries of its first batch of cars to begin as early as January 2025, with the AWD variants set to kick things off before the 2WD units come later on.
This 5-seat D-segment SUV currently measures in at 1,671 mm in height, 1,920 mm in width, and 4,775 mm in length, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm and ground clearance of 165 mm. And for a bit of dimensional context, here is how the Omoda C9 by Jaecoo stacks up size-wise to some of its rivals:
