Suzuki Jimny Rainforest & Black Limited Editions Launched Locally

The launch of these special Suzuki Jimnys were marked with a 30-vehicle Jimny Lifestyle Drive.

While the Suzuki Jimny may most charitably be called more toy than car, this tiny off-roader still has no problem commanding a long waiting list over here. And while its local distributors Naza Eastern Motors may not really need much more than to say that these 4×4 have landed in Port Klang for them to soon find eager owners, it has nevertheless went one step further recently by launching two more tarted up editions of this big boy’s little toy.

Following on from the Rhino Edition that was launched locally early last year, Naza Eastern Motor’s tarting up endeavours have since lead to the recent debut of the Rainforest and Black Edition of the Jimny. Both of which, according to the local distributor at least, feature distinctive design elements with trims and accessories intended specifically for Malaysian market.

Now starting with the Rainforest Edition first, this particular special Jimny nets a new roof rack up top. Though perhaps the more obvious edition specific add-on to its exterior will be the new jungle camouflage wrap found on its front grill, front and rear mud flap, and all along the mid-section of its body, which does certainly see for it to be true to its name.

And if that isn’t jungly enough, the Rainforest Edition also features within it a(n even more obvious) jungle camo wrap plastered to its loading edge, the inner back door as well as the rear-view mirror. Handily however, perhaps in an effort to add a touch of class (or balance out the garishness from the wrap), these special edition Jimmys do net some contrasting brown leather sleeves for inside door handle cover too. There is to be a carpets and a rear quarter box included with this special edition for added luxury and practicality as well, while a new rugged bumper fitted to its central touchscreen rounding up the interior alterations.

Moving onto the Black Edition now, it too also nets the multi-roof rack, while the other edition-specific add-ons to its exterior includes a carbon finish grille up front and a similarly carbon finish spare tyre cover out back. Special ‘Jimny Black Edition’ emblems are also to be found on this particular limited edition Suzuki.

Turning towards its cabin meanwhile, the Jimny Black Edition is equipped with an all-black version of the rugged garnish bumper on its central touchscreen, while its inside door handle and assistant grip are sleeved in black leather with a contrasting lime green stitching. Naza Eastern asserts for there to be a free upgrade to dual-tone Nappa Leather seat for the Black Edition, with it also further highlighting that door visors and mud flaps will be included on both these special edition models.

The Rainforest and Black Edition Jimmys are currently priced at RM 168,900 and RM 171,900 (before insurance) respectively. Both limited editions are still to be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot as the standard model, with its 101 horsepower still to be sent through all four wheels via a four-speed automatic gearbox and a part-time ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system (with a low-range transfer case and torque vectoring by braking).

To mark the launch of these special editions, Naza Eastern Motors hosted a memorable Jimny Lifestyle Drive with more than 30 Jimny owners. The convoy drive was flagged-off by Naza Automotive Group Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Rizal Jailan at Suzuki Cars showroom in Petaling Jaya.

Rizal said, “The launch of the Jimny Rainforest and Black Edition emphasises our strategic focus on profitable niche models that is in line with the automotive industries trends.”

He further added, “We have seen the SUV market in Malaysia growing over the last 10 years, so our focus remains with the existing models – the iconic Jimny and the Swift Sport, as they continue to resonate strongly with our customers. With the introduction of these new variants for Jimny, we are not only expanding our offerings but also reaffirming our dedication to providing vehicles that embody quality, reliability, and style.”
