Perodua Aruz Now On Sale In Singapore For RM 286,409

Even at that price though, the Perodua Aruz is still the cheapest 7-seater on the island.

Perodua has recently announced that it has launched the new Aruz over in Singapore. The first international market for this local 7-seat SUV, it is currently on sale in the tiny island city state through its local distributor over there Perocom Auto Pte LTD at their sole outlet in Ubi.

With nearly 58,000 units leaving Perodua’s Rawang manufacturing site since its local launch two years ago, this ‘best-selling SUV overall in 2019 and 2020’ over here may also be able to make a splash across the causeway. And this is despite the fact that the sole Aruz X variant available over there retails for an eye-watering SGD 92,999 (RM 286,409), inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

Compared to the local price of the Aruz that incidentally tops out at RM 73,226 for the posher AV variant, this steep selling price in Singapore for a lower spec car may seem like a ludicrous amount to pay for the Perodua. Looking at the competition over there however like the Toyota Sienta that retails from SGD 111,888 (RM 345k) and even the all-electric Chinese BYD M3e minivan that costs SGD 113,888 (RM 350k), this Malaysian 7-seat SUV is actually the cheapest new way to cart around 7 people around the island.

Speaking more of the specs for the Singaporean Aruz X, this Perodua SUV comes as standard with LED headlights, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, keyless go, a central infotainment touchscreen and a reverse camera. Within the cabin are also fabric seats, with 60:40-split second and 50:50-split third rows.

Moving on under the hood, the Singaporean spec car comes with the same 1.5 litre dual VVT-i four-cylinder with Eco Idle as the Malaysian model. Meaning that it will be good for 102 PS and 133 Nm of torque that is sent to the rear wheels via a well proven four-speed automatic transmission, as well as a fuel efficiency figure of 15.6 km/l.

As for safety, the Aruz in Singapore features six airbags, in addition to the other usual passive safety kit like vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, emergency stop signal, hill start assist and Isofix child seat anchors. No Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 here though, as even this active safety suite is only available on the higher-tier AV variants of the Perodua SUV locally only.

Available in Granite Grey, Electric Blue and Glittering Silver metallics and an Ivory White solid hue, the Aruz comes with a 5-year/100,000 km warranty over in Singapore. The other Perodua models available across the causeway include the current Myvi hatchback and Bezza compact sedan.

PRESS RELEASE: The Perodua Aruz has officially entered its first overseas market – Singapore. At launch, it is priced at SGD92,999 (RM286,409*), inclusive of Goods and Services Tax and Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

“The Aruz’s arrival in Singapore marks the first seven-seater offered by Perodua in the island nation,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“With nearly 58,000 units sold in Malaysia since its debut in 2019, the Perodua Aruz was Malaysia’s best-selling SUV overall in 2019 and 2020. We are looking forward to sharing the Aruz’s space, safety, versatility, durability, practicality and fuel efficiency with our southern neighbours,” he added.

The Perodua Aruz’s aluminium-block 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine joins forces with an electronically-controlled automatic transmission and Eco Idle to yield a rated fuel efficiency of up to 15.6 km/l.

Its versatility comes courtesy of 60:40-split second and 50:50-split third rows that can be slid, folded and tumbled for a multitude of seating and loading configurations. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ISOFIX and six airbags contribute to a full five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Other standard equipment include LED headlamps, 17-inch two-tone alloys, keyless entry and start, and a touch-screen infotainment system with reverse camera display.

The Perodua Aruz is sold by Perocom Auto Pte Ltd at their sole outlet in Ubi. The sole authorised Perodua distributor in Singapore since 1997, Perocom Auto has sold the Kancil, Kembara, Kelisa, first- and third-generation Myvis, Viva, Axia and Bezza there.

Besides Singapore, Perodua also exports to Brunei, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Fiji and Indonesia (where the Myvi is sold as the Daihatsu Sirion).
