Neta X Electric Crossover Launched In Malaysia From RM 119,888

This second Neta model over here lands at the same time it was revealed internationally in Thailand.

Following on from its prior preview at the Malaysia Autoshow this past May, the Neta X has since recently been launched in Malaysia.

This second local offering by the Chinese automaker after its Neta V compact MPV, this all-electric crossover arrives over here in three flavours. The base 400 Comfort is priced at RM 119,888, before rising to RM127,888 for the 400 Luxury and eventually topping out at RM135,888 for the range-topping 500 Luxury.

Powering the Neta X is to be the same front-mounted electric motor in all three variants, with it rated at 163 PS and 210 Nm of torque. This e-crossover currently claims to be good for the century sprint in 9.5 seconds, before eventually attaining its V-Max at a sensible (to put it kindly) 150 km/h.

Differentiating the 400 and 500 trims on the powertrain front is to be in the capacity of its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs. The 400 features a 51.8 kWh battery that is good for an NEDC-rated range of 401 km, while the 500 comes with a larger 62 kWh unit that (not entirely true to its name) quotes a 480 km NEDC-rated range from a single charge.

The Neta X is currently rated to accept a maximum AC charging input of 6.6 kW, which will fully top up the 400’s 51.8 kWh battery and 500’s 62 kWh pack in 9 and 11 hours respectively. This e-crossover is also capable of DC fast charging at up to a(n admittedly comparatively low) peak of 65 kW, but is nevertheless enough to see it be juiced up from 30-80% in just 30 minutes.

In terms of how this Neta X measures up physically meanwhile, this electric crossover comes in at 4,619 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, 1,628 mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2,770 mm. This sees for it to therefore occupy a larger footprint than its Chery Omoda E5 or BYD Atto 3 comparable alternatives, but its squatter profile does certainly make it feel slightly more snug within than the other two aforementioned taller crossovers.

Now in terms of exterior aesthetics, the rather sleek front end of this Neta X is highlighted by a pair sharp-looking LED daytime running lights, with the LED headlight cluster situated further below. All three variants of this electric crossover come riding on 18-inch wheels tucked beneath its chunky crossover-style plastic clad wheel arches, while its rump is to be finished off with an LED light bar that runs across the full width of it.

Other exterior features worth highlighting here with the Neta X includes for all three trims to feature heated auto-folding side mirrors and rain-sensing wipers, in addition to a full-length panoramic sunroof with automatic sun shade. Oh and for those who are interested in such things, this all electric crossover incidentally also nets a multilink rear suspension setup to complement its Macpherson struts up front.

As for what lies within, a 15.6-inch central infotainment system and digital instrument cluster are to be standard across the range, as are powered front seats and an 8-speaker sound system. Setting the Neta X from its rivals on the tech front too is for it to feature a 360º camera with transparent chassis function, built-in Spotify and a 60 W USB Type C port (that is powerful enough to charge even laptops).

All versions of the Neta X further nets a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system provides up to 3.3 kW to power accessories. Though interestingly, only the Luxury trims net the available Level 2 ADAS safety suite, which brings with it full-speed adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring with lane changing assist, door opening warning, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist and emergency lane keep assist. Stepping up to the Luxury trim also brings with it a powered tailgate, a wireless charging pad, a memory and welcome function for the powered driver’s seat.

Neta is currently offering this e-crossover in five exterior colours: Pearl White, Sky Grey, Jet Black, Glacier Blue and Amber Brown. Rather uniquely for this class of car too, there are to be two interior hues to choose from: the standard black and the optional brown.

All Neta X will come standard with a five-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty, in addition to an eight-year/180,000-km warranty for the electric drive components. Customers who book one of these e-crossovers between now and 31st July 2024 will also be entitled to an additional subsidy that doubles the booking fee of RM1,000, a choice of either a complimentary wallbox or 2,500 kWh worth of ChargEV charging credits, in addition to a 2-year/40,000 km free maintenance package.
