Mazda CX-5 Gets A New Cabin, Design And Technology For 2026
With Jinba-Ittai driving performance, this new Mazda CX-5 offers joy and excitement when you look at, touch, and ride in the car.

The Mazda CX-5 nameplate and very first model was introduced in 2012 to fully adopt Mazda’s design theme, “KODO – Soul of Motion” that imbues soul into the car, and SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, which delivers outstanding driving performance and environmental performance.
Now for 2026, Mazda has tweaked the much loved SUV design and slightly increased the size of their “most important global model” (note that with more than 4.7 million examples sold since its 2011 launch) in a bid to further widen the SUV’s appeal and compete with dozens of rivals from China.
The CX-5 has been chosen by many customers for its sporty and urban design, “Jinba-Ittai” driving experience that allows the driver to control the car at one’s will, and the carefully crafted interior.
This is why the new CX-5 is 4690mm long, 1860mm wide and 1695mm tall, making it marginally larger than the model it replaces and closing the size gap between the CX-5 and the recently launched CX-60.
But it’s the 115mm increase in wheelbase that is said to vastly improve the car’s roominess, especially in the back, end where shoulder, leg and head room have all increased.
The development concept for the new CX-5, now in its third generation, is “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort” to make it even more loved by customers.
So, to cater to current trends, this CX-5 features a new large 15.6-inch Google-powered infotainment touchscreen.
So, Mazda now has a screen powered by Google which is the system already used by Volvo and Polestar and what new generation customers desire.
It features maps and apps similar to those users will find on Pixel phones, and the screen can run wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This is paired with a new larger 10.25-inch driver’s display that can also run some Google apps, such as Maps.
While inheriting and evolving the Soul of Motion design and the Jinba-Ittai driving performance, the new CX-5 offers joy and excitement when you look at, touch, and ride in the car. In addition, by improving the interior space and usability, ride comfort, and quietness, it supports a comfortable drive in a variety of situations, such as shopping, leisure, and transporting children.
In addition, the all-new Human Machine Interface, the enhanced connectivity with the newly added apps, and the evolved Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) help expand the experience that matches in this day and era.
Powered by Mazda’s 139bhp 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G hybrid petrol engine just like the unit used by the Mazda 3 and CX-30. This replaces the previous car’s 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel options. As before, an all-wheel drive option will be available.
The new CX-5 will arrive in ASEAN markets during 2026.
Mazda will continue to pursue the “Joy of Driving” under its core value of Radially Human, and aim to deliver the “Joy of Living” by creating moving mobility experiences in the daily lives of its customers.
