The Mazda CX-8 has been updated in Malaysia with new features and a new 2.5-litre turbo engine option as well. The CX-8 has been popular ever since its release in 2017. It is essentially the Mazda CX-5 but with a third row of seats. Its overall size is between that of the CX-5 and CX-9.
The newly improved Mazda CX-8 that we’re getting now has been added with GVC Plus, additional USB ports for the 3rd row passenger and a 7-inch Instrument Cluster meter, 6-way power seat for front passenger, handsfree power tailgate and auto-folding mirrors as standard on all the variants.
The different variants for the Mazda CX-8 also get some minor improvements. The 2.5L Mid and High variants get new leather seats in black. As for the 2.5L High Plus, the seats still have their nappa leather in deep red finishing.
Additionally, for all the 2.5L High variants and above, they are now included with an updated grille design, LED Signature headlamps, LED interior lamps as well as Wireless charger and Wireless Apple Carplay.
Mazda CX-8 2.5L High Plus and above also get Gunmetal finishing on its front grille and chrome bumper garnish and front seats with heated and ventilation function. Not to mention updated i-Activsense features like Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), High Beam Control (HBC), front and rear Smart Brake Support (SBS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go.
All variants have also been updated with G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus). For those wondering what it does: GVC is a unique human-centered initiative that controls and stabilise the vehicle behaviour at high speed when cornering. The GVC Plus applies brake force lightly to the outer wheels as the steering wheel is returned to the center position.
The new variant of the CX-8 will be equipped with a SKYACTIV 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It is good for 228hp and 430Nm of torque and a top speed of 200km/h. It is the only variant for the CX-8 available with all-wheel drive.

These are inclusive of a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) according to manufacturer’s standards inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
As part of the improvements, there are now two new colour options: Platinum Quartz and Polymetal Gray. Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue and Jet Black are still available.
