With the market getting tougher with more options, Honda Malaysia has officially launched the limited edition CR-V with Mugen body kit to persuade buyers away from the Proton X70 and the Mazda CX-5. So so is Mugen? Well, in brief, Mugen Motorsports (M-TEC Co., Ltd) is a Japanese company formed in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda, and Masao Kimura. Mugen, meaning “Without Limit”, “Unlimited” or “Vast”, (hence the commonly placed word “Power” after, denoting “Unlimited Power”) is an engine tuner and parts manufacturer that manufactures OEM parts such as body kits and sports exhausts for Honda Motor Company. Despite the family connections, however, Mugen is not, and has never been, owned by Honda Motor Company; Mugen owner Hirotoshi Honda has been the major shareholder in Honda since his father’s death in 1991.
This Mugen inspired SUV made its first appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 (KLIMS 2018). The CR-V Mugen Limited Edition will be available in the 1.5L Turbocharged 2WD variant and only 300 units are available.
Mugen, which means “Without Limits”, is well known by Honda enthusiasts in Malaysia as it embodies youthfulness with a sporty and bold exterior appearance in the Honda models. The CR-V now looks even more outstanding and striking on its exterior with Mugen features such as Front Under Spoiler, Front Grille Garnish, Side Garnish, Rear Under Spoiler, Rear Upper Wing and the Mugen Emblem. The class-leading limited edition model comes in two colour options, which are White Orchid Pearl and newly introduced for the CR-V, Passion Red Pearl. With the powerful Turbocharged engine and extended dynamic design, the CR-V Mugen Limited Edition will provide a fresh option for drivers who seek a tough and bold looking Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The CR-V Mugen Limited Edition is available at RM152,900* for Passion Red Pearl colour and RM153,300* for White Orchid Pearl colour.
The CR-V is the first model that was locally assembled by Honda Malaysia in 2003 and has sold more than 95,000 units in Malaysia as at June 2019. To set a higher benchmark, Honda Malaysia introduced the 5th Generation CR-V in 2017 which was bolder in its design with advanced features. In addition, the 5th Generation CR-V was the first model to be equipped with Honda SENSING, the Next Generation Advanced Safety Technology in Honda Malaysia’s model line-up. With its comprehensive suite of high-end features, it is thus far the best CR-V compared to its predecessors. In total, Honda Malaysia sold close to 27,000 units of the 5th Generation CR-V as at June 2019, maintaining the No.1 position in Non-National SUV segment.
Adding to the refreshed exterior, the CR-V also offers purposeful features that maximise convenience and comfort of the driver and passengers.
