GWM Tank 300 & Haval H6 HEV Now Open For Bookings Locally

The Tank 300 off-roader will land locally around July, with the hybrid Haval SUV come soon after that.

While Great Wall Motor (GWM) did not bring anything new for its pavilion at the ongoing Malaysia Auto Show 2024, it nevertheless did wow with its display of a Tank 300 propped up on a massive plinth. And for those who may have an interest in potentially procuring one of these off-roaders, let it be noted too then that the Chinese automaker has since also opened the order books locally for it!

Moreover, aside from the announcement of its order books being open, GWM has also teased an estimated price tag to be associated with the Tank 300, which currently is to be in the region of RM 250,000. The Chinese automaker has further provided an expected date of July 2024 for when first deliveries of this off-roader will commence locally, along with the rather low-key reveal that first bookings for its Haval H6 HEV are also incidentally now accepted as well.

Oh, and for those who want a more street-spec look for their prospective Tank 300s, on display at the GWM pavilion is a black blinged-out concept to provide some inspiration for potential modifications. All these modifications are funnily enough all performed locally too, with this potentially a sign of a burgeoning Malaysian Tank modding scene to come(?)

In any case, detailing more regarding the Tank 300 now, this Chinese Wrangler wannabe is to be powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine outputting 220 PS and 380 Nm of torque. Mated to it meanwhile is a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission, with power expectedly delivered to all four of its chunky tyres through a dual-speed electronically-controlled part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system.

And continuing on the off-roading front, GWM currently quotes for the Tank 300 to have a minimum ground clearance of 224 mm and maximum wading depth of 700 mm, with an approach and departure angle of 33º and 34º respectively. Other notable the tech-related 4×4 highlights of this body-on-frame off-roader includes its all-terrain control system with 9 driving modes, a crawl control mode and a tank turn function that allow drivers to manoeuvre across difficult territories.

As for the on-road toys on the other hand, the GWM TANK 300 comes equipped with Level 2 Driving Assistance with smart driving assistants including Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Highway Assist (HWA). Its surprisingly plush cabin in turn comes featuring a 12.3-inch central infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a 9-speaker INFINITY sound system and double-layer soundproof acoustic glass.

The first 300 GWM TANK 300 bookings will be entitled to a special early-bird package from GWM, including a 5 Year/ 100,000 km free service package inclusive of part and labour, whichever comes first, a lifetime powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage, solely for the first owner, and a mystery gift that will be revealed at the official launch.

“Warranties and gifts are more than just showing appreciation to our loyal customers,” stated Mike Cui, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia. “They are part of our promise to deliver a satisfactory post-sales service that can ease our customers’ worries.”
