SDAS Partners Guard My Ride For Extended Warranties

Sime Darby Auto Selection (SDAS) has recently officiated its partnership with Guard My Ride (GMR), Malaysia’s ‘leading comprehensive extended service warranty provider’ and has since announced an extended warranty program exclusively for its pre-owned cars.
Eligible for vehicles sold by SDAS that are less than 8-years old and have less than 140,000 km on the odometer, this new extended warranty program offers not only a comprehensive warranty coverage for these pre-owned car, but also offer repair and service that covers most of the major mechanical components on the vehicle too. These components that covered in this rather comprehensive warranty include the vehicle’s drivetrain, which range from its engine to the gearbox and axles, in addition to various other ancillary components like the air-conditioning, electronics, steering and braking systems.
Priced from between RM2,200 and RM6,900 annually depending on the age and type of vehicle, this extended warranty program also comes with complimentary towing service to its nationwide panel workshops for repair and servicing, not to mention insurance coverage and insurance underwriting. GMR will be the service provider for all the extended warranty claims, towing service and repair work; while RHB Insurance is the auto insurance underwriter for this extended warranty program offered by SDAS.
To those unfamiliar with GMR, the company has been in the extended warranty business locally since 2015. Priding themselves in their ‘high level of efficiency and transparency when it comes to the processing of warranty claims’, the company touts to be the only ‘premium warranty service providers that ensures that their customers get to claim up to the full amount within the warranty service, inclusive of both parts and labour.’
In more recent news, GMR has recently expanded into establishing their own workshop in the Klang Valley region ‘as a collaboration with selected panel car workshops’. Getting back to the exclusive GMR warranty for SDAS pre-owned vehicles, the annual warranty (naturally) has a 1-year eligibility period and a 25,000 km milage cap. A pre-purchase inspection must be conducted by SDAS before the warranty can be activated, and there is a 7-day/500 km cooling off period before a claim can be filed.
There is a RM 15,000 limit on every claim filed, with a total aggregate of up to RM 100,000. Customers who partake in this warranty are also required to perform routine maintenance at any of the authorised GMR panel or SDAS workshops too.
