Facelifted Volvo XC60 Launched Locally From RM 333,888

This facelifted Volvo XC60 has brought with it a slightly altered face and a mildly revised cabin.

Following the local renewal of its two flagship SUVs this past April, Volvo Car Malaysia has recently brought an update for its slightly smaller XC60. The mild refresh of what is the Swedish automaker’s most popular model brings a slightly different face, a revised interior, and the availability of air suspension on the plug-in hybrid variant.

As before, the refreshed XC60 arrives locally in two electrified guises:

  • T8 AWD Plug-in Hybrid – estimated price starting from RM 367,888
  • B5 AWD Mild Hybrid – estimated price starting from RM 333,888

Looking at what has been revised on the XC60, this mid-sized Scandinavian SUV has gained a new grille with a diagonal mesh pattern borrowed from its similarly refreshed larger XC90 sibling. New wheel designs smarten up its side profile, while smoked rear light clusters and a pair of new sombre hues (Forest Lake and Bright Dusk) complete the exterior alterations.

Moving on inside meanwhile, the biggest change involves the fitment of a larger 11.2-inch infotainment screen that protrudes above the dash. Volvo says this makes the system twice as quick to respond to inputs as before, and brings with it also crisper graphics. The system continues to operate on Google’s infotainment platform, and is paired with the usual Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity sound system.

Other minor interior changes include repositioned wireless charging for improved ergonomics, reconfigured cupholders, and flexible cargo spaces that offer better flow and usability for day-to-day use. The XC60 also now features advanced air purification technology that filters out up to 95% of harmful particles.

There have been no changes to the propulsion units of both variants from the pre-updated form. The B5 Plus continues to feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-pot and eight-speed automatic transmission, hooked up to a 48-volt mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator (ISG). Total system output is 263 PS and 390 Nm, translating to 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 180 km/h.

The T8 AWD Plug-In Hybrid in turn features the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 8-speed automatic transmission, but adds a more powerful rear-mounted electric motor to complete the all-wheel drive layout. Total system output in this case is 462 PS and 709 Nm, for a sports car-whooping 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds. Though perhaps more pertinent to buyers here is its 18.8 kWh battery pack enables a WLTP-rated EV-only range of 81 km.

Regarding the PHEV variant, Volvo is currently offering air suspension as a feature on this particular specification of the refreshed XC60. It is nevertheless worth highlighting that the press release states this option will be available for a limited time only, with steel springs likely making a return in due course.

The XC60 is not only a favourite globally with almost 2.7 million units sold to date, but also a trusted choice among Malaysian families. Since its local introduction over a decade ago, more than 6,200 units of this locally-assembled Scandinavian SUV have found homes across the country.

“The XC60 continues to be our most popular model in Malaysia, and for good reason,” said Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia. “It represents everything Volvo stands for — elegant design, uncompromising safety, and powertrain versatility. Whether customers prefer a plug-in hybrid or a mild hybrid, the XC60 is our way of providing a sophisticated, sustainable drive to suit every lifestyle.”
